With a Little Help From My Friends It began every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning starting at 7:45 until their departure at 10:45 back home. In the three short hours that they were there they had a lot to do: Visiting classrooms, eating freshly cooked snacks prepared by students or Mrs. Gavin, or taking field trips to McDonalds, Publix Bakery, etc. These chil- dren ranged in ages between two and five years old. Even rough and tough football players proved to be gentle and loving. Football player Randy English said he real- ly enjoyed the class and looked forward to being a daddy sometime in the distant fu- ture. The Wee Warriors adapted well to becoming a big part of the expanded and very spirited Warrior family. Lending an ear to listen and occasionally a shoulder to cry on, the Peer Facilitators worked to help students over the rough spots that life sometimes created. Laura Hester explained that the group worked with the guidance counselors and the Occu- pational Specialist Helen Pilni, who guided them and reviewed their cases. Hester, April Scanlon, Sheri Frogel, Kathy Voris and Denise Turner all enjoyed the opportu- nity to help others. Students came for help with classes or sometimes just to talk. The Peer Facilitators also worked with groups of students at Osceola Middle School on Tuesday afternoons helping them to pre- pare for high school. Both Scanlon and Hester felt that the program was successful in its goal to help fellow students. - 1 Peer Facilitators: QTop to bottomj April Scanlon, Laura Hester, Kathy Voris, Denise Turner and Sheri Frogel. ,fr sf Lisa Pourchot prepares Stephanie for her High School Prom early as she is an infant success at it. 160lPeer!Wee Wariors

Importe-cl? Club Promoted Foreign Study By Kim Preston Learning the English language is tough enough, but members of the French and Spanish clubs chose to pursue a second lan- guage as well. The main purpose of the French Club was to enhance the love and support of the French culture and unite the French speaking stu- dents from different classes. The Spanish Clubs purpose was to get stu- dents more involved with Spanish outside the classroom. The Spanish Club met the second Tuesday of each month to collect dues and discuss up- coming events. They hoped to hold a fund raiser to raise money for new teaching aids such as a VCR and camera. Also, they hoped to attend a performance of the Ballet Folklor- ico de Mexico. The French Club held the Paris in Spring messages as a fund raiser in hopes to attend the play 'La Petit France' and any others that came up. The French Club also got together with the Spanish Club and planned activities for For- eign Language week, March 5-ll, such as fashion shows and a small play. , 1 . fgL.1fi 'i' :if of If 3 ik X Ag Jennifer Ulsberger encourages some students to join a club Stacey Trombetta and David jackson collect monthly dues. 162!French and Spanish Clubs
