Lots of Pride 81 Pizzaz The Junior Varsity Cheerleaders worked hard to sup- port the JV Football and Basketball teams. The J .V cheerleaders had a lot of spirit, said captain Lara Shiver. These young cheerleaders were not always recognized by the rest of the student body, but they prac- ticed almost everyday after school and worked hard to- ward their own goals. The girls helped raise money by selling such items as cushions and pom-poms before home football games. Sponsor Susan Yormark said of them, They weren't in the limelight as much as the Varsity Cheerleaders, but they never got discouraged, and they all gave IOOCZQ to J .V Cheerleading. Hopefully we'll have even more bands partici- pating in the Festival by then. The band received many awards during the season. Some of these were: Best Guard, Superior Guard, well as many excellent ratings in marching skills and general effect. Drum Major Tom Kelley was very pleased with the band's overall suc- cess during the year. His views were best expressed in this statement: During the year, the band has matured immensely in both attitude and performance. Under the direc- tion of Mr. Williams, the band will continue to grow as the years go by. I look forward to being a part of the band program for the 1988 marching season.
