Leaders 'n Enthusiasm By Jennifer Bowman Cheerleaders were an impor- tant part of our games and pep rallies. The resurgence of school spirit helped them greatly in their job. Tessa Whitehead comment- ed, When the crowd supports and participates at the games, we feel our purpose for existing is be- ing servedf, The cheerleading sponsors, Mrs. Standfast, Mrs. Yormark, and Mrs. Flanders, attended the games, dealt with the paperwork and fund-raisers. Some of the fund-raisers included: selling rib- bons, stickers and pom-pons. This past summer eighth squad members attended cheerleading camp at St. Petersburg Junior College. They started in the early morning and worked into the late afternoon. At camp they learned many of their cheers, jumps and chants. As the team captain, Michelle Mauer's job consisted of organiz- ing the squad, calling cheers and chants during games, and leading the practices. Soon after the season started, the cheer YOU became and ex- pected part of Friday night foot- ball games.
