Something zjferenl in ampa a The classic hotel of the 1920's and 1930's, The Vinoy, waits for renovations to be completed. Remodeled to look as it did in the 30's, the Don is stately. Constant change in our com- munity made life in the Bay area interesting. Some changes help society to meet its needs and wants. The St. Petersburg Pier was being renovated at an estimated cost of approximate- ly S9 million. The famous Co- lumbia Restaurant in Ybor City is opening a new branch in the Pier, on the upper level. The theatre in the Bayfront Center was also renovated. There was a complete remodel- ing of the stage, dressing rooms, and back stage areas. Along with remodeling the theatre, the town added temporary bridges over the race track for the Grand Prix that was held on November 5, 6, and 7th, The first running of the Grand Prix was in 1985 for the Bay area. The race brought the communi- ty a great profit from Bay area attractions. This has become an annual event. The Don Cesar Hotel has been refurnished to resemble the original hotel of the l920,s. The outer deck was expanded to accommodate more guests who could enjoy the beautiful pool- side view of the Don and the Gulf of Mexico. Our communi- ty changed to meet our needs. Bayfront Theatre undergoes extensive . .tit renovations. Communityftt
