Rogers, XXI Olson. u man H. Askov, Advisor. Last September the classes of the Osceola High SchoQl held elections to deter- mine which students should be elected to take over the duties of OSCAR. The following representatives were elected: seniors. Glen Peterson and Wayne Olsong juniors. Donald Nelson and Dick Schwartzg sophomores. Paul Simenstad and Joan Kuskeg freshmen. Jciyce Berglund and Yvonne Peper. The student body elected Alfred Gorr as president. Donald Rogers as vice president, and Charlotte Vold. secretary. Mr. Askov was elected as the adviser of the group and Mr. Buck. treasurer, One of the first activities sponsored by this group was the selection of the new cheerleaders. Joan Hagen and Doris Meyer. Another activity was the OHS home- coming dance which was held en October 29. Under the sponsorship of this organ- ization. several school parties were held. as was the collection of almost 100 canes for use in the veterans' hospitals. To, raise money fcr the organization, a magazine selling campaign was con- ducted throughout the month cf November. It was a very successful campaign. and the students sold more than S900 worth of subscriptions. This money was used to pay for movies. speakers. and athletic equipment, The main purpose of this organization has been exemplified again this year. which is the second year of its existence. Many students have commented favtr- ably on the excellent school spirit and the way in which difficulties have been ironed out by the representatives at their regular monthly meetings.
