Student Involvement Makes Student involvement is what makes OHS groups successful. From the intellect to the athlete, from a cheerleader to an actor, it takes every member working hard for each group to meet their goals. In order for Osceola students to qualify for membership in the National Honor Society, they must have a 92° grade average. Officers for the organization this year were: President, Ron Johansen; Vice President, Coreen Ericson; Secretary, Jolene Kresha; and Treasurer, Colleen Kresha. The National Honor Society purchased medallions for their Senior members at Graduation. Drama Club consists of those students who participate in the Conference and District Speech Contests, and the Conference and District One-Act Play Contests. These performers spent many hours working before and after school, and during speech class. Athletes in O-Club are those that have lettered in any sport. The members of this club make money for the year by picking up tin cans and working in concession stands. Some O-Club members helped to run the Grade School track meet. For the 1985 year, President was Becky Theis; Vice President, Rob Johansen; and Secretary Treasurer was Debbie Burritt. The seven cheerleaders and two mascots spent many long hours cheering for all of the boys' and girls' athletic teams. These girls were a hard working group, since they attended one or two contests almost every week during the year. They also worked a couple of concession stands in order to earn money for their uniforms. The Student Council accomplished a lot through the 1984-85 year. With President Rusty Dunn's help, the Council made it a fun and happy year for many people. Some of the things they did were: provided fruit baskets for needy families during Christmas; took responsibility for a pop machine for the student body; organized Homecoming events, sock hops, a free dance for the students, and a ping pong tourna- O Club picture removed from annual ment; donated $500 for a new movie camera; and placed a picture of Mrs. Jean Peterson in the hallway. They also attended numerous conventions. With these things — among others — the Student Council had a busy but successful year.
