The new stadium added to the excitment of it all. The team gave all they had everytime they walked out on the field, even though the record does not show this. The season began with two wins, which boosted everyone’s morale. Things were looking pretty good for the Bulldogs, then the ball bounced the wrong way when they lost to Genoa. The ball bounced three more times in the opposite direction throughout the season. However, these three bounces didn’t stop the mighty Bulldogs as they finished up the season on a good note, with two wins. It all ended with a 5-4 record. This completed an 18th season winning streak. The Bulldogs began and ended the year at home with four wins and one loss. A good tradition that should always be followed. Seniors of 1982, (L to R): D. Dr. Davis 53 Coached by Mary Keane and Suzanne Peterson, the Varsity Volleyball team finished this year with a 1-9 record. Not represented by this record were the determination and ability put forth by the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs lose six seniors this year. They are Paige Gustafson, Susan Watts, Brenda Christensen, Gina Schmidt, Teri Johansen, and Jolene Gabel. These six girls added much to the team, and will be greatly missed by the remaining team members. The Junior Varsity girls finished the season with a 1-7 record. These girls put in a lot of hours of practice, hoping to show improvement next year. Freshmen ended their first year of volleyball with a 1-7 record. These girls learned basic skills needed to play Varsity Volleyball. We look for great things from these 2 teams in the future. T«nrl concentrates on the action. 1981 J.V. The team won its first dual meet in years and wound up the season undefeated in duals and triangulars. They also finished second in the Goldenrod Conference meet, the highest finish since 1969. The highlight of the season came in the Knights of Columbus meet when the Bulldogs finished 9th behind competition from Classes A and B schools. The Bulldogs placed first in that meet of all Class C schools. In the season finale, Dave Bryan and Darrell Andelt competed in the State Tournament, Dave in the discus, (in which he placed 4th), and Darrell in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Darrell placed 5th in the 3200 meter run. New records were set this year by Dave Bryan in the discus, Darrell Andelt in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, and by Chris Hofbauer in the long jump and triple jump. The boys were coached by Head Coach Mr. Ramsbottom and Assistant Coach Mr. Ernst. GIRLS’ TRACK The 1982 edition of the Osceola High School girls’ track team had a rough spring. Illness and injuries plagued the girls most of the season and kept them from performing up to their potential at a number of meets. Despite these problems, a consistent winner in the 800 meters was Susan Jones. Though slowed by illness. Penny Watts also recorded some good times in the 800. Vickie Jones and Deb Theis excelled in the hurdles. They dominated the event in a number of meets, and both girls qualified for the District hurdles final. Vicki figured to have the best chance at going to the State meet, going into the finals, but she finished poorly after hitting a hurdle. 64 Osceola Insurance Inc. The teachers at Osceola High School aren’t just interested in their students’ grade point average. They are also concerned about them as human beings. Teachers want to develop their students to their fullest potential. They also want students to learn how to accept responsibility and involvement in their extra-curricular activities. As a result, with a little push from the teachers, the students become a well-rounded human being. Builders Supply of Osceola PERSONNEL Bus Drivers. Bob Grossnicklaus. Will Stephens.
