Bulldogs Faced Trying Season The first record of a football game played by Osceola was on November 13, 1902. Osceola was defeated by David City 28-0. A quote from the November 6, 1902 Osceola Record statde The boys are beginning to take a little interest in football now, and are practicing nearly every night on the courthouse lawn . In 1973 football captured the interest of 36 boys who made up the gridiron team. It was a disappointing first season for Coach Chapman ending in a 2-7 slate. Assisting Chapman were Larry Johnson and John Habben. Leading the Bulldogs as co-captains were Dave Watts, center, rightguard, and middle guard, and Steve Monson, halfback and tight end. The season produced 25 lettermen consisting of 9 Seniors, 13 Juniors, 2 Sophomores, and 1 Freshman. A11-Conference honors were awarded to Ron Fujan, defensive linebacker and offensive tackle. Dispite a dismal season Osceola received much support from students and fans. Alan Sipes Tom Yungdahl Tom Peterson Mike Van Hoosen 24 Harry Lees' Realty Cengas
