Football Rushes To The 1972 gridiron team met all challenges head on. Under the new head coaching of Randy Rohde and his assistants Larry Osceola SEASON RECORD Opponent Johnson and Willard Jensen the team compiled 20 Cedar Rapids 6 a 3-4-2 record. 20 Stromsburg 16 The 1972 roster was made of 8 seniors, 8 Clarks 8 9 juniors, 18 sophomores, and 4 freshmen. 14 St. Edward 14 Bill Peterson was chosen to the Golden- 8 Henderson 26 rod Conference team as an offensive tackle 0 Silver Creek 22 and a defensive linebacker. 14 Polk 27 Although they will certainly miss the 12 Palmer 20 8 departing seniors, the 17 returning letter-men will be a great help. 13 Genoa 12 Sponsored by Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home

FRONT ROW: Lorre Wobig, Jenny Cerny, Marie Tworek, Karen Schott, Susan Tworek, Jane Gabel, Sue Asche, Debbie Cliffords, Robin Walgren, Vicki Augustine, Beth Fjell. Records Broken In Track Due to the extreme amount of moisture the track season got off to a slow start. Under the direction of coaches Lee, Stroup, and Gunther the girls showed progress in spite of their slow start. Five girls won the honor of representing OHS at state. They were Karen Schott in the 440, Debbie Asche in the 880, and the 880 relay team made up of Karen Schott, Ann Cerny, Jenny Cerny, and Sue Asche. The team took second place at the district meet with 73 points. A first place trophy was earned by the team at the Conference track meet. Many new school records were made this year. The records are: shot put-- Vicki Kucera--30'10 , discus-- Gaylene Car- lson--93'5 , long jump--JoAnne Gissler---- 16'3 , high jump--Mary Cerny--4'8 , hurd-les--Debbie Cliffords--12.3; 50-yd. dash--Karen Schott--6.3, 100-yd. dash-- Karen Schott--ll.7, 220-yd. dash--Karen Schott --26.9, 440-yd. run--Sue Asche--63.3, 880-yd. run--Debbie Asche--2:36.9, 440-relay team--Debbie Tonniges, Debbie Cliffords, JoAnne Gissler, Jody Rowan--53.7, 880-relay team--Karen Schott, Ann Cerny, Jenny Cerny, Sue Asche--l:51.5. Thus ended a successful track season with high hopes for another one next year.
