Seniors Leave O.H.S. A Night in the Orient was the theme for the 1973 junior-senior banquet and prom. At the sound of the gong the guests entered the incense-filled room, while pianist Carita Peterson played various oriental pieces. The program began with a welcome by junior class president Nancy McDonald, who instructed the guests on the proper use of chopsticks. The class wills were read by Jim Carlson and John Girard prophesized the seniors' futures. Senior class president Mike Johnston then gave the thank you followed by Mr. Larry Johnson, wearing an oriental smoking jacket, who was the speaker for the evening. Freshmen servers Susie Bryan, Irene Davis, Debbie Klaus, Denise Snodgrass, Sue Throckmorton, Mary Jo Wieseman, Rich Hayes, Steve Johnston, Ronnie Jones, Dayle Mautz, Doug Peterson, and Rob Sterup were dressed in colorful kaftans and karate jackets. They performed an original dance and vocalized together in Sakura. The meal consisting of apple blossom saki (apple Juice), jook toun (appetizers), beef won ton (steak), golden foo yung (corn), rice orientele (rice), fruit can-tonese (salad), don mein (rolls and butter), rising rumaki (dessert), and tangte (spice tea) was then served. Everybody's Everything played for the dance, whichwasa climax to a very enjoyable evening. Chat Chow Cafe Sponsored By Way Of Orient by Richards Custom Campers

Seniors Have Memorable Sneak Ten p.m. finally arrived on Thursday, May 10, and 32 seniors climbed aboard. After the introduction of our bus driver, Norman, everyone settled down for a slumberless all-night party. At 6:30 a.m. we arrived at our destination, Denver, Colorado, and ate hearty breakfasts. Our day was then pleasantly spent by touring the Red Rock National Park, Lookout Mountain, Central City (a former gold-rush town), and the Denver Zoo. A stop was made at a sports center also. Night arrived, Elitch Garden opened, and a fun-filled two hours passed swiftly. At 9 p.m. the bus headed back to Osceola. At 6:30 a.m. the seniors arrived home, tired, but satisfied.
