Year Of Competitive Sports The girls of OHS completed their first season on the track in great style. Coaches Stroup and Lee sent four girls to the state meet in three different events. They were Sue Asche in the 440, Jenny Cerny in the 220, and the 880 relay team comprised of Ann Cerny, Karen Schott, Asche, and Cerny. At the district, the team placed second with 34 points. Sue Asche, Debbie Asche, and the 880 relay team brought home first place medals in the Goldenrod Conference meet, again placing second. Since this was the first year of competition, the best times and distances were naturally the school records. VARSITY Girls Successful In First After the first season of volleyball at OHS, both participants and coaches gained valuable experience and knowledge. Competitive sports, something new to the girls, proved to be exciting and stimulating. Coach Lee Ann Lee was assisted by A1 Stroup and the team came home from the Conference Tournament with fourth place honors. A special honor was having senior Margie Simon -sen named to the all-conference team. Back next year with power and pride will be the members of the Jr. Varsity and Freshmen teams who have high hopes of bettering this season's records.
