By the middle of the year David White and Rozella Sorrensen had moved away. With Melanie Monson as president of the class we had $130.38 at the end of our freshman year. Sophomores began the year with Steve Sterup as president. Our pancake feed was very successful and our treasury ended up with $648.82. We had two Sophomores on the basketball team that went to State Tournaments that year. VALEDICTORIAN-Jack Cerny As Juniors we were still trying to make money for our Prom. With Barb Gullberg as president we put on Arabian Nights as our Prom. The class also had fun with our class play A Bit of Honey. At the end of that year our treasury held $374.52. As our final year of high school was underway, the Senior class had eleven boys on the football team which took the conference championship that year. Along with winning the Polk County 4 new records were established. 5 new records were set by OHS as the team placed a strong second in the Conference. The team won the C-2 district track meet and Randy Bond and Jack Cerny qualified for the State Meet where Jack placed third in the long jump. New standards set by individuals this year are: 100 and 220 yard dash, Randy Bond; 440 yard dash.
