During the cornpicking season, members urged farmers to be careful while running their pickers. When the farmers pledged to be careful, they were given a Safe Corn Harvest sticker to put on their pickers. The reason for this campaign was to lower the accident rate in Polk County throughout the season. During National FFA Week, February 22 to March 1, the members painted their neighbors' mailboxes, rebuilt the stands, and painted the owners' names on them. Howard Carlson, Clair Huggler, and Rodney Gestrine have entered the DeKalb corn-growing contest. The object of this contest is to plant one acre of DeKalb corn and another acre of the seed of your choice. Cempliments of Dr. W. F.
