CLASS PROPHECY “Life comes and life goes, but all men live for the same reason.” Most news publications publish a column at the end of the year, giving all the details of the year’s events. As I was reading just such a column in my local newspaper, entitled The Class of ’56 in ’76,” I remembered all the time 1 had spent with those people. For instance, on the front page of the evening paper I saw the picture and notice of the retirement of the nation’s first triple air ace--John Bernt—a farm boy from Nebraska, who stepped from high school into the air force and remained until now. He is probably most famous for his brilliant command of the first space ship voyage to the moon. On the next page I saw the advertisement for “Richard’s Wreck’em Build’em Garage.” Acccording to the advertisement, Richard first became famous for his bargains and deals, but now his fame rests on his do-it-yourself cars. It tells how he buys cars--takes them apart, then sells the parts to the customer. The customers keep putting the parts together until they get something that will run--seems Richard got his experience in this line when he drove to high schooL Just as I finished the advertisement for “Richard’s Wreck’em Build’em Garage,” a news bulletin flashed on the television that Miss Marilyn Colby had just won the world wide film-beautystar contest. It seems there had been a slight tussle with her rival--the once great Marilyn Monroe. Both were being treated at the local hospital by an old friend of Miss Colby’s--Sonja Wulber. Miss Wulber has become one of the world’s foremost authorities on nursing and practical medicine. She is now finishing her term as head nurse at the hospital before taking over her position as Secretary of Health and Public Relations for newly elected President LeRoy Dinges. President Dinges had become well known for the tactics and war policies he used during the recent cold war with the Russian and European communists. Mr. Dinges is taking office during a national wave of juvenile delinquency and crime, but we are very proud to say that no one in this class is responsible for, or a part of either problem. It has been rumored that Mr. Vaughn Mickey, the famous Democratic and Senate leader from Nebraska is to be his Secretary of State and Mr. Walden Jones, the world known agricultural scientist is to be his Secretary of Agriculture. Mr. Jones will finish the jobof rebuilding the nation’s farms after the poor crops and drought of the 1950’s. In another interesting advertisement I find that Mary Lou Cejka, the girl who was the secretarial brain of high school, and Karleen Carlson, the woman who has just set the world’s record in typing of 275 words per minute, have become partners in what they call the school of the four C’s--Carlson and Cejka Cecretarial Course. They also teach spelling. This business should be a success because of the growing demand for girls who can run those new office brains when the boss is gone. I hear they now have a button on those machines which when pressed, will print all of ones instructions so all the school of the four C’s has to do is to teach the student where the button is l!!!!!!!!l You may have wondered where the world of science has been all these years. Well, I have just read in the Science Digest that.......................LeRoy Gabriel, well known scientist and experimenter, has just devised a system of curdling milk without turning it sour. This should be very helpful to the house wife who uses milk curds in that once in a lifetime recipe. Larry and Clarence Kresha, joint scientist, who invented the famous ray-gun which was used in the first voyage to the moon by General Bernt, have finally been given awards for their inventions. Marlene and Ruth Richards have been attending college and are jointly working on a vaccine for the cure of the new and dreaded disease----Katamine. Their work is being supported by the Salvation Army headed by Larry Larson, famed spokesman for good will and welfare through out the nation. I just read the legal notice of the merger of the Arthur Murry and Jan Dance Studios last week. Both Studios are well known for low prices, easy lessons and simple dance steps. Jill Grossnicklaus, Queen of Homecoming in 1955, is going to be queen again. It has been announced that she is engaged to the Czar of Trussia and will rule his vast dominions which are equal in size to Duncan and Silver Creek, Nebraska combined. Trussia is a resort area and a land of happy people. It seems as though the Lewis Petroleum Company is growing quite rapidly into a national organization. Jim’s laboratories have developed many new fuels which will be needed in the growing world of machines. The automotive industry centered in Detroit is beinghard pushed to compete with the speed and style of air transportation but with the nation’s best designers behind the three major companies--Duane Peterson at Ford--Herbert Hanson at General Motors--and Robert Cole at Chyrsler Corporation, it appears that automobiles will still be a factor in local transportation for years to come. Two of these men were farm

boys--perhaps that is why the vehicles are looking more like tractors every year. Gary Gustafson has certainly been busy lately working on all those new private runways in America and taking the roofs off the garages so the helicopters can make direct landings. I understand Gary is planning to open a furniture manufacturing corporation soon. MarVelle Johnson is certainly becoming well known because of her luck life. She recently was Queen for a Day and is now on the $64,000 Question with the category of Shakespeare. Quite an accomplishment for a life insurance secretary. Finally I came to the picture page and I saw the pictures of Jerome Prososki, Eddie Mangelsen, and Ronnie Watts--they have just returned from a farm exchange tour to the moon and have spent most of their lives as research government farmers. Miss Ann Schott is going to star in the role of Juliet in Charles Gounouds Romeo and Juliet at the Metropolitan debut of the Duncan Opera Singers. All parts are to be truly fictional. The Waltz’' from this opera has been made famous by Ann. And finally on the sports page I found a family picture of the famous pro-football star--Dick Triba and his wife, the former Gerry Bowe. Their Family of Football players and cheerleaders is becoming well known through out the world. The children seem to be following in the foot steps of their illustrious parents. Mrs. Triba has recently started a finishing school in New York and is planning to open another in Omaha. I finished reading the paper and after a moments reflection I knew that every one of the Seniors of the class of 1956 had done something news worthy enough to be in the papers. The class of 1956 has certainly been successful. A contest to determine the student most likely to succeed would have failed in 1956 because in 1976 each has proved his ability and the future can only be marked by continued success.
