S’tnijsr Dear O. H. S. Graduates: New York, New York August 1, 1963 In May of the year 1963, my partner and I, who work for the writers of Believe it or Not, were asked to go to my home town of Osceola, Nebraska, at the time of the annual Alumni Banquet, to make a survey of the members of the Class of 53. I enjoyed the visit there, as I remembered nearly everyone, and it proved very interesting. To my partner and myself to learn of the professions of those 30 students who were graduated only 10 years ago. Several were unable to attend the banquet, some we visited, and others we learned were in all parts of the world. The results of our survey were amazing. We hope this information will be of interest to you: Larry Snodgrass, former O. H. S. sports star, is coach of the famous Irish team, Notre Dame. Always having the desire to be well dressed, JoAnn Wieseman designs costumes for the well known movie stars. DeLoss Lesuer is very hard to keep in touch with, but the last we hear, he was re-retired. Don Sterup, formerly known as Lightning, took so many vitamin pills that he won the Olympic Races held this year. Yvonne Anderson also took these vitamins, but they affected her growth in a different manner. Oodles now is making the sum of $300. a week as fat lady in the circus. Wasn't it a coincidence that two graduates of this class have made circus life their career? A. C. Schott, after realizing he didn't enjoy farming, joined Ringley Bros. Circus. High school dramatic coaching proved helpful as he is now master of ceremonies. Herman Anderson and Gregg Eklund, always good friends, are still together. Gregg is a Medic” in the service and Herman is an army Captain. Richard Peterson is enjoying his position as an Ag. instructor at the University of Nebraska. Joanie Johansen was hard to find but thats because we learned she and Jim had left the farm for a month's vacation. Speaking of far away places, Leila Colby and her husband own a hotel in New York. They went to Niagra Falls on their honeymoon and still haven’t returned. Bill Bryan decided against following the career of his famous ancester, William Jennings Bryan. He is still working with hot rod cars, in fact Tie is manufacturing them for the California patrolmen. Have you read the new book Lost but not Least ? James Pulliam wrote this while visiting in London. After 10 years, Bob Merrick has solved one of his old problems. Being a policeman he has a good reason for taking home lost girls! Caroline Rhodes is enjoying her position as United States Ambassadoress to India. John Miller’s talents have been greatly developed since high school. His experimental work with The Atomic Bomb has been very successful. Guess What? Herman Carlson is a traveling evangelist. P. S. We'll never know how he became so inspired! Sharon Berck, now a famous singer, is entertaining the servicemen in Europe. Mrs. Lewis Thelen, former Bonnie Gibbins, and her husband, manage a large horse ranch in Wyoming. She is still giving piano lessons. Milton Marak has certainly profited by his Boy's State experiences. Clem is a senator from Illinois. Because of his cherry disposition Jack Conrad chose the profession of a mortician. Business is good, but we've heard several complaints about his Cozy Coffin commercials on television. Anita Branting enjoyed Camp Kwianis so well she now manages a girls summer camp and vacations during the winter at Sun Valley, Idaho. Of course, Danny Burritt married Glenda. They live in Colorado and manufacture potato chips in competition with Kitty Clover. Their delicious little morsels, which they call Spudsies, are gaining world fame.
