The other day as I glanced through my 52 Bulldog, I tnought to myself all the queer changes that had taken place since the long lost year of 52 . Many of the members of this class are very successful, and the others-?well, let’s go down the list and you can see for yourself what changes have taken place. First off the list we find Dick Alt, better known in the good old days as Hubie . In school he was a freat athlete, now he is a big game hunter in South Africa. In the last letter we received from him he said unting had been pretty fair, tne last time he was out he returned home with his largest game of the year-- two johnny rabbits . Next we receive the news from Washington D. C., our national capitol. Here we find many of the Class of 52 employed. First there is Francis Ienn, who like father like son, is now janitor in the capitol. We find that he is known around there as the best janitor of all times. Also here, we find LaVern Richards. LaVern was the big political man of that class. He is now running in the Primary election, for President. (I don't remember which party but it seems to me like it was Republican. You had better ask him to be sure.) The other member of that class that is in Washington is Janet Zedicher. We hear that she also is running for high political office — LaVern's wife. . Delmar Augustine has changed since high school days. The lfst we heard he was living on a large ranch out in Western Nebraska. He finds mis life is better for him. He says he is soon going to retire. In Las Vegas we find that the most well known of all the night club’s is me Night Owl belonging to Robert Earl Johnson, and his wife, the former Rose Bernt. Bom of these are previous members of the class. In Reno we find Marian Boden, who is getting her fifth divorce, and we hear mat she is returning again to her old high school sweetheart?????????? I believe he lives in Africa now. In Hollywood we see me name, JO ANNE CARLSON, appearing at all me Hollywood primere's, and on all me movie-houses, magazines, etc. Who would have ever thought mat, mat shy little cheerleader would be a noted movie star. The biggest change of all me members of mat great class, we find is Donal Lindblade. He was so quiet and shy, but today we read mat he has been sentenced to Alcatraz for life. What happened to him????? Out at Coney Island we find mat Eleanor Gabriel is known as the richest popcorn popper in me world. She moved to Coney Island after graduating from O. H. S. in 52 . Latest headlines. DEMARIS JOHNSON, WINS MISS AMERICA BEAUTY CONTEST. THE NEW MISS AMERICA OF 1952, IS SAID TO BE THE PRETTIEST EVER TO WIN THIS FAMOUS BEAUTY CONTEST. Well our queen of 52” seems to be doing all right for herself. Nice going Marcy. In California we find that me most successful restaurant of me year is The Brown Derby now belonging to Harold Johnson, me happy-go-lucky ofthe Class of 52 . Also, we hear mat his chief cook, and bottle washer is Raymond Miller, another swell guy from mat class. Dr. Gerald Schmoker, is now one of me most famous verterinarians of mis day. Nice going Gerald. Now back to O. H. S. where we find Jim Sterup as coach of good old O. H. S. He is now married to Joanie J. and they are raising quite a large family. Also at O. H. S. we find Robert Walgreen as superintendent. Don't be too hard on me kids Wally. Kenneth Esau, is still building hot rods , and we hear he is doing quite well. Glenna Richards, is head secretary to the Governor of Nebraska now. Her high school education paid off quite well. Jack Schott, is now a member of the Los Angles, Ram. He is known as Crazy leg Schott . His athletics in school turned out to be a life long job. Glen Brazee is a famous track star in the Olympic's and his manager is Lyle Kennedy. Glen is doing real well, at least the last we heard he was still running after women, or pardon me I mean still running in the Olympic’s. Verneta Ferris, is an English teacher. The last we heard she was teaching in Iowa. Don Zedicher, owns a large farm, and is quite well to do, or at least that's what the paper says. Last but not least, we come to Bob Peterson. Bob is doing real well. He is now Professor Peterson, head of the University of Nebraska. Nice going, Pete. The fore-going will gives you an idea of what has or rather is apt to happen, to the great Class of ”52 . I am sure that they will long be remembered at O. H. S. as being a very wonderful and great class. SENIOR CLASS WILL We, the Seniors of the class of nineteen hundred and fifty-two, in full possession of a crammed mind, well trained memory, and almost superhuman understanding, do make and publish this, our last will and testament, to bestow and bequeath to the following beneficaries, in manner and form as follows; I, Lyle Kennedy, will my contract to Metro-Golden Mayor—as a movie star, to Gregg Eklund. CHEERLEADERS Demaris, Yvonne, Anita, Jo Anne PEP CLUB IN ACTION CORONATION HOMECOMING October 12, was a big day for everyone in O.H.S., for it. was Homecoming. Homecoming marks the climax of the football season; and it is the time to present the queen and the captain. That night at half-time, the band led the parade on the field from the North. Following that was the grid truck and the rest of the floats. The truckstopped in front of the Osceola bleachers and the other floats went on around the field. The float that was chosen for first prize was the seniors’. Second prize went to the freshmen and third prize went to FFA. The candidates came to the grid truck in a convertible. The candidates were as follows; Demaris Johnson in pink net; Glenna Richards in blue taffeta; Verneta Ferris in organdy with a white background; Marian Boden in blue satin; JoAnn Carlson in green taffeta. No one knew who the queen was until everyone was on the float. Coach Hafemeister presented Jim Sterrup as King and he in turn crowned Demaris Johnson as Queen. Jim received a medal for being chosen captain. Demaris received a beautiful bouquet of gold rust chrysanthemums. Sally Bond carried the bouquet to Demaris. Steve Parks was the crown bearer. To add to the success of the evening, Osceola won this important game, 6 to 0, over their rival, Polk. FOOTBALL BANQUET The annual banquet honoring the football team was held in the High School Gym, Tuesday night, November 27, with a capacity crowd on hand to hear the program and guest speaker, Gregg McBride, World Herald sports writer. Robert Walgreen was toastmaster and introduced in order, JoAnne Carlson, Demaris Johnson, who played a piano duet; presented the football King, Jim Sterup who in turn introduced Demaris, the Queen, and presented her with a gold football on chain with 1952 written on it. Coach Hafemeister talked briefly and then presented members of the squad. Bonnie Gibbins, Caroline Rhodes, and Sharon Berck, accompanied by Anita Btanting, sang. Mr. McBride was introduced by Mr. Wulber. His talk was on the transition of football from the time it started. He complimented the team on their performance this year and the community on the gym. After the program two films Sports Highlights of 1950” and the Iowa State-Nebraska game (this year) were shown. NEAL HAFEMEISTER Concordia College Midland College University of Nebraska B. Sc. Sc. in Education Principal Mathematics Assistant Football Coach i — FOOTBALL This 1951 edition of the Osceola Bulldogs will go down in history as one of the finest teams to represent the school in the gridiron sport. In spite of a shortage of manpower. Coach Hafemeister built up a team which was noted for its hard, bruising play and sportsmanship. Wholesale injuries to key players in the last three games ruined chances for state recognition and a chance for a conference championship. The Bulldogs received credit in their first game for out-downing the powerful and fast David City Scouts 13 to 5 but losing by a score of 38 to 7. Osceola then overpowered Stroms-burg 12 to 0 and St. Paul 13 to 0. The Shelton game was played in a cold driving rain and the Bulldogs skidded to a 34 to 0 triumph. Polk proved tough and Osceola won 6 to 0. The team had a field day at Genoa winning 45 to 0. The injury jinx struck early in the Clarks game and with the backfield riddled, Osceola lost 19 to 0 to a fine team which scored on long passes. Fullerton won the next game easily. By using the spread formation in the last half of the Newman Grove game, Osceola managed three touchdowns while losing 26 to 20. Osceola won second place in the conference and placed three men on the all-conference team—Jim Sterup, Gregg Eklund, and Glen Brazee, while Dick Alt, Jack Schott, Jack Conrad, and Larry Snodgrass made the second team. Jim Sterup received unanimous selection as guard on the Class C All State team. The season’s record includes eleven victories and seven defeats and marks Osceola as a threat in the strong 12 teams Class C Tournament. David City won the season's opener by a decisive 51 to 34 score. Clay Center fell 32 to 29 and Stromsburg took a close one 38 to 35 in a game marred by considerable rhubarb. Rising City surprised the Bulldogs 39 to 38. Coach Hafemeister's crew then disposed of Silver Creek, Fullerton, Polk and Shelby before bowing to Stromsburg again in another close battle. Genoa, Clarks, Aurora and Shelby were defeated in order. Osceola won the opener of the Polk County Tournament by checking Polk, but stumbled in the finals against Stromsburg. Osceola lost to St. Bonaventure and St. Paul by narrow margins but won the final with St. Edward. The second team was again strong, and won fifteen of their eighteen games which included the County Tournament second team trophy. Larry Snodgrass led the scoring with 194 points, Walgreen second with 125, and Sterup and Brazee tied for third. Jack Conrad scored 186 points to lead the way for the seconds. The above statements were subscribed, sealed and compiled by the senior class of'52 and this is the lasting testament of that class. May these wills prove prosperous for all who have received them. May they ever walk in the steps of their elders, and be led on to wealth, victory, and happiness. DRAMATICS JUNIOR CLASS PLAY The central characters, those of two narum-scarum college youths, played by A. C. Schott and Herman Anderson. Anita Branting portrayed a beautiful young woman under the strange spell of Dr. Omahandra, taken by Gregg Eklund. Leila Colby played a voodoo witchdoctor, Milton Marak, a mysterious blind man. Bonme Gibbons played the part of Tweety a bumpkinish country maiden; Jack Conrad, the sheriff of Milburn and Sharon Berck, his female rival, the sheriff of Hopetown. Others in the cast included; JoAnn Wieseman as Mrs. Sara Reynolds; Bill Bryan as her husband, John; Monohan, a State Policeman played by Bob Merrick; Harold Custer, a very polite young man, played by Jerry White; and his aged mother played by Caroline Rhodes; Yvonne Anderson as Peacnes Greeding, a chorus girl, and Daisy, the ten-year-old niece of the sheriff of Hope County, played by Jenonne Dawes. Mumbo-Jumbo is, as its name implies, three acts of hilarious nonsense, with the crime elements completely smothered in the farce of college youth who has to masquerade as his best friend’s wife, and two small-town sheriffs who can't solve me crime for battling over which has jurisdiction. SENIOR CLASS PLAY The senior class presented a new and exciting farce-comedy, Out of This World, April 1, to a large audience. The play centered around the antics of Happy Stone, a young man doomed to die within three months. All ended well, however, with many a good laugh provided.
