Q Wea' Fe acclffcvz D With Miss Winslow as their teacher, the slightly diminished drama class did not organize a drama club as they have in previous years. Much of their time was spent learning how to build props. learning the different lighting and sound effects. studying cos- tumes. make-up, voice and diction. Two of the dramatic students landed parts in Eliz- abeth the Queen, presented at the Little Theatre. Marjorie Jones and Jimmy Perkinson acquired a touch of professionalism as they worked with real actors and actresses. About half of the class combined their efforts and took part in a play at the Chesapeake Avenue Meth- odist Church at Christmas. It was led and directed by Wilbur Keys, recreational director in South Norfolk. Mr. Jackson started a modern-dancing course for the drama class in the latter part of the year. He worked with Miss Winslow in giving the students a wider understanding of dramatics. One of the plays presented by the girls in the class was Legend of the Lake. Four on a Heathv was the play presented by the boys from the class. This was given on March 3 at Churchland to compete in the forensic meets where it won a Distinguished rating. It also took a Distinguished rating in the State Meet in Charlottesville. Stevie Jones, Shirley Tarkenton. members of the Drama class. use thc P. A. System to present special programs.
