This view of the Senior Banquet from above the moose head shows ptrt of the rustic atmosohere it the Planters Club in Suffolk Zamgaez' cmd Fawn Senior activities were on the up swing with the arrival of spring Following the Senior Play on April 10 the Senior Banquet was held at the Planters Club in Suffolk on May 3. Among the distinguished guests present were the school board Miss Leigh and Mr. Brickell who was the speaker that evening. A dance for Seniors and their dates followed the banquet. On May 26 the much-awaited prom came. A beautifully decorated Suburban Country Club served as the back- ground for the traditional ring dance and ceremony that accompanies it. Music for the dance was provided by Elwood Duncan s band which featured a vocalist. Darvin Richards placed fourth in the Tidewater meet and was high point man for the year with 58. He set a school record of 44 feet HM inches in shot and 131 feet 6 inches in discus. Tommy Bat- ten, despite a back injury, set a school record of 10 feet 6 inches in the pole vault. Crawford Walters, Billy Story. Bobby Mitchem, Connly Bass, Ray Stewart, and Carl Pope performed well also. The record for the year was 2 wins and 6 losses. The 1956 Baseball Team had its most successful season since the school's entry into Group I competi- tion six years ago. With an overall record of 9 wins, 7 losses. and l tie. the Tigers were a real title threat for the first half of the year only to fall back when a lack of hitting took its toll.
