4 1 I T' ffl? K Al Radke conducts the devotions heard over the Public President Sally Best presides during a regular meeting of Address System the Beta Club. T TTIDG SHEETS Valtditturian The first of two students whom the TATTLER has chosen to salute is Patty Radke, our Valedic- torian for 1956. Patty has contributed to her school inmany ways. She is a very sincere, hardworking student whose talents in rmsic have added greatly to our band and have brought her state recognition. She has worked willingly and faithfully with our radio station, WFOS, and her beautifully planned devotional periods have provided both students and teachers with a perfect beginning for each new day. Patty hasmade excellent scores on several apti- tude tests and has taken Part in the WRVA Radio Quiz series. She plans to further her education and enter the teaching profession, majoring in mathemat- ics and science. In addition to her studies, -Patty has been presi- dent of the Future Teachers of America and has been quite active in the Beta Club. In closing, the TA ITLER would like to say, Many thanks for everything, Battyf' and we extend to you our very best wishes for a successful and happy future. Salutatnrian fl'he second student whom the 'l'A'lf'l'Ll1K sa- lutes is Sally Best, -our Salutatorian for l956. Sally came to Smith at the beginning of her junior year, and since that time, 'shehas made quite a commendable record for herself. She immediately became an important part of our music department by contributing her talents both in singing and playing the piano. She repre- sented our school as a delegate to S. l. P. A. last year and soon found she had been selected as the Business Manager of her annual for l956. ln Septerrber of her Senior year, Sally took over her duties as president of the Beta Club. ln this capacity, she has served with grace and dignity. Also, she has been an active member of the Quill and Scroll Honor Society. Sally has contributed her time, talents, and ef- forts to the S. C. A. and many other organizations within our school. As a fine student, her work is of the highest quality. Although this seems incredible, Sally still finds the time to serve her church and community in numer ous ways. The TA'l'TLliR feels that this student is, indeed, a credit to our school, and we wish for you, Sally, the very best in the years ahead.
