On March 21, eight persons were made extremely BETA on the couples dancing to the Poor People of Paris. The Beta Ball was to have been an annual dance sponsored by the BetaClub. The theme for fhe first of these dances, held on April 7, was The Poor Peo- ple of Paris! The decorations, carrying out a French theme, displayed an Eifel Tower, a flower garden, and artists' easels with freshly painted portraits. A . B o . joan Rose and her date seem to be concentrating Y Sally Best Everyone seems to be enjoying the Frenc atrmsphere and dreamy music, but Phil ap pears to be captivating his audience with one of those tall tales. Several Beta members worked hard to make the event a success, but because of the lack of support of other members and the student body, the attempt for another annual spring dance failed. Beta members are not wholly responsible for this, and those who were at the dance spent a most enjoyable evenlng together.. BETA APPING By Sally Best happy. These persons were tapped into the Beta Club. The program for this important event was very informal. A report concerning the recent Beta Convention in Rich- mond was given, reports of the local club projects, which included a skit, were given. The objectives of the Beta Club were remembered by these happy people when the impressive tapping ceremonybegan. Character, Achievement, and Lead- ership are the important qualities of these students. The Seniors, who were tapped, were Betty Skinner and Barbara Weise. The juniors were Mary Sue Ainsley, Carolyn Blades, john Chappell, jackie Guthrie, Claudia Leggett, and Marilyn Nuchols. New Beta Club Members are: Betty Skinner, Mary Sue Ainsley, Carolyn Blades, jackie Guthrie, Barbara Weiss, Marilyn Nuckols, and john Chappell. Absent from the picture were: Claudia Leggett and joan Rose.
