e . jen i or M CL, Off:. icerS PRESIDENT Widdie Merchant VICE-PRESIDENT Robert Johnson SECRETARY Margaret Jones TREASURER Nancy Gilley Jhe Senior C lc aAA We the Seniors of 1951, suddenly come to realize that we are witnessing our last days at Osbourn. Let us look for a moment at the past—when we first entered high school. As freshmen, it seemed to us that we would never achieve our one goal—graduation from Osbourn. Our freshman year was full of gay laughter and little seriousness in our work; but when the time arrived for reports and exams, we quickly settled down and tried to do our best Before we knew it, we had completed our year's term and were out of classes for the summer. In the autumn of '48, we found ourselves returning to Osbourn as sophomores. This was the year, it seemed to us, that we were actually recognized as students participating in school life. We took an active part in sports, clubs, and various organizations Members of our class made the varsity teams and became members of the higher organizations in the school such as the Senate and the Student Council. We were astonished and maybe a little proud when we witnessed the graduation of some of our higher classmates and it seemed to make us appreciate them more when we knew that the school had just lost a fine group of boys and girls. June arrived and we were headed for another vacation. We usually made the best of our time away from school and were all eager to return again in September. We entered high school with an air of dignity because we would be Juniors and Seniors and would be able to participate in more of the activities that were offered for the Junior and Senior Classes. We helped to prepare the prom and most of us proudly attended it. Again another fine class left Osbourn and we were out for the summer. The following term we returned to high school as an entirely different group of individuals. We had lost most of our “childish ways, and had actually gotten down to setious work. We received our class rings, for which we had waited so long. We proudly wore them and will always cherish them as a symbol of our days at Osbourn. Now, that we have looked back upon our years in school, we will better appreciate the times we have had and will always look back with an air of dignity to be able to say that we graduated from Osbourn. We will always appreciate what the school has done for us, sending us out into the business and professional world well prepared and well educated.
