SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS President Rembert Parler V ice-President Amory Rice Secretary Betty Lee Jenkins Treasurer Jack Martin The Senior Class The time has come for us to leave. We should only be looking ahead; yet. somehow, we find ourselves looking hack. Back to the time when we were lowl Freshmen. Freshmen—the lowest of the low; the greenest of the green; the newest of the new. How scared we wer e, especially during “Rat Week.” We soon found out, however, how friendly our teachers and upperclassmen were. The year passed quickly, and then we were Sophomores. No special event marked our Sophomore year, but we cannot leave it out, and still give a picture of our complete school life. We looked forward to the time when we could enjoy the Prom; then it was time for us to say good-bye to the Class of ’47. We were so proud to be Juniors. How hard we worked preparing for the Prom, but our work was well rewarded when everyone told us the gym looked lovelier than it ever had before. Time was slipping away; the year ended, and we were “dignfied” Seniors. Dignified? No, at least, we didn’t feel that way. Strange as it may seem, we felt humble. Was it really possible that we would soon be leaving? The fall slipped by, and Christmas vacation came. Then all of a sudden, it was 1949, THE YEAR. With our mid-term exams over, it seemed as if the winter flew by, and soon, almost too soon, it was Spring. The Prom, our last, was beautiful. It will always seem very special to us, for it was in our honor. A lovely memory to carry with us. The Baccalaureate Ceremony, with its simple, beautiful dignity, has passed. Commencement time is almost here. Yes, the time has come for us to leave. To you, the incoming class, we leave a hope that you will hold high and carry forward the ideals, which we, in our turn, have tried to uphold. With mingled feelings of happiness and sorrow we say “Farewell.” Our deepest wish is that some little thing which we have accomplished, will help you always remember the Class of ’49. 10
