Vice -P resident JESSE REID Secretary CHARLES JOHNSON Parlia men tarian REMBERT PARLER Stenographer LOIS YATES Treasurer PATRICIA PATTERSON Adviser President MISS SMITH BOBBY LYMBURNER tudent Cooperative Association After a vigorous campaign in March 1947, Bobby Lymburner was elected Student Cooperative Associ- ation President for the following year, in a run-off election over Bert Roseberry. His platform contained promises to obtain a monogram for the stage curtains, to start a fund for curtains for the windows in the auditorium, to secure cooperation between students and faculty, to support the Yellow jacket and Hi- Iacket, to have on sale school pennants and monograms, and to consider all worthy suggestions for the betterment of the school. During this school year many new improvements have been made at Osbourn. The lights have been put on the athletic field, bleachers have been built in the gymg the Honor Society Store has received Osbourn pennants and monogramsg a clock that works has been put in the auditoriumg the Radio Dances have been improvedg the gymnasium floor has been painted, new clubs have been establishedg and cheer- leaders have been added to the original squad. All in all, it is a fine record of achievement. On October 24, 1947, a meeting of the Virginia State S. C. A. was held at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg. The Osbourn delegates, Bobby Lymburner, Barbara Lymburner, Teddy Peters, and Rembert Parler returned with interesting reports on the discussions. Rembert led one discussion group. Another S. C. A. meeting, though on a much larger scale, was the annual convention of the Southern Association of Student Government, which was held in Corpus Christi, Texas, in November. Mariam Gregory, Bobby Lymburner, Bobby Roof and Miss Smith attended the convention and brought home many new ideas on student government. A County Federation Senate meeting was held at Brentsville District High School on November 4th and a meeting was arranged for April 1948, to be held at Osbourn High School. In addition to the President and officers of the S. C. A. there are two departments, the Senate and the Council. The Senate is composed of three Seniors, two juniors, and one Sophomore, all elected by the council. The Senate has joint power with the Council to organize regulations and activities for the school. The Council is made up of the chairmen of all organizations and the home room presidents. It was especially active this year. After two days of stormy session, the resolution was passed by the Council to add new cheerleaders to the squad. This was probably the most controversial point decided by the Council this year. Aside from the many branches of the student government, perhaps should be mentioned the most im- portant factor of all-the student's cooperation with the S. C. A. That, along with able government and good will, has made this a most successful year.
