Out of six games they won one and tied one. Olsakis lost its Homecoming game to Long Prairie. There were fifteen lettermen on the squad. Graduating seniors on the squad are Collins, Pollard, and the co-captains, Cady and Hanson. The team was very green this year, but almost the entire squad will be back next year. The players injured this season were Perkins, R. Hanson, Holt and Harris, The team was also taken to see the Minnesota-lowa game. nm I nn llllnunmlnmlunxnnunnnl nnununu unnunllmnnnunullnluulllllnlllng BACK ROW: Ass't. Coach LeBoau, G. Basketball The Osakis High School basketball team finished the l946-l947 season with a record of eighteen victories and six defeats. This is one of the finest records attained by a team representing Osakis High, The season didn't start out too well with the records showing four losses out of the first eight starts. After that the only loss outside of Crosby-lronton was to Glenwood, a game in which several regulars were out because of illness. Osakis won the right to play in the District Tournament by defeating Evansville and Glenwood in the Sub-District. Both of these games were won by safe margins. The first round of the District found Osakis playing the scrappy Melrose quint. Although Melrose led at half-time, the locals came through with a twelve point victory. ln the semi-finals Osakis played Alexandria. This was a slow contest which found Alexandria, like Melrose, employing a tight defense. The finals saw Osakis pitted against the strong Main Streeters from Sauk Centre. This was truly a championship game and found Osakis emerging with a one-point victory and its second District 22 Championship. The team proved their defensive ability in this tournament by holding their opponents to a 23.33 point average for the three games. This was the lowest of any team in the state. BASKETBHLL CContinuedJ l'n the Regional Tournament at Glenwood, the local team lost in the first round to the fast Crosby-lronton team from District 24. Osakis came back to win the conso'a- tion game from Detroit Lakes, while Crosby- lronton took the title by defeating Morris. Co-Captains Ray Cady and Bob Hanson are the only two seniors on the squad of twelve lettermen, so the hopes of a good team fcr the next year will be high. lt might also be mentioned that Ray Ca dy and Bob Hanson were placed on the All District Team which appeared in the Sauk Centre Herald. Several others from Osakis received honorable mention.
