The council then nominates candidates for office, upon which the student body, by secret ballot, elects them. This year there were two tickets, the square ticket and the triangle ticket. Following vigorous campaigns by both parties, the election returns showed that the ticket was split. Craig Champion was elected to the presidency, Rich ,lohnsten as vice-president, and Dale Ketelsen as secretary. Mr. Larson was the Council'S faculty advisor. The activities of the Student Council this year included a watermelon feed, Freshmen initiation, the Homecoming celebration, roller skating par- ties, after-game dances, College Day, magazine sales, a noontime recreational program, Recogni- tion Day, Senior Heception, and the Spring For- mal Dance.
