SEVEN SPEECH ENTRIES RECEIVE TOP RATINGS Out of the twenty-seven students entering the speech contest, six of them were chosen to represent Osage at the Tri-County Speech Festival held at Osage, January 17. These representatives were: Nancy Allen, girls' proseg jim Clayton, boys' proseg Jody Eakins, public speaking, Rex Mowery, boys' extemporaneousg Lois Nesbitt, girls' extemporaneousg Steve Schopp, boys' poetryg and Sharon Sutton, girls' poetry. Those receiving excellent ratings at district, held in Rolla, February 25 and 26, journeyed to Columbia May 6 and 7 to participate in the state contest. The boys' and girls' poetry were works of Eliza- beth Barrett Browning, and the boys' and girls' prose were Works of Herman Melville. Students, Sharon Sutton, jim Clayton, Steve Schopp and Nancy Allen, gladly accept the certifi- cates presented to them by Mr. Dickenson in com- pliance with their I ratings received in the Tri-County Contest. Lois Nesbitt and Jody Eaki- ins muse at an oration given by Rex Mowrey at the rost- rum. Mr. Dickenson, speech instructor, gives last minute instructions in regard to the District Speech Festival to Lois Nesbitt, Jody Eakins, Nancy Allen, Sharon Sutton, Rex Mowrey, jim Clayton, and Steve Schopp, top rated students in the Tri- County meet.
