Band Umforms l-ley' I-ley' And now we have unnforms for our Band which gives us great pleasure May we record a brief history of what seemed an lmposslble task which was accomplished by the members of the Lake Ozark Lions Club For about a year Mr John Deere had dreamed of band uniforms for the Osage band He presented his xdea to the Llons Club where lt was carefully discussed and then adopted as a project Two teams with Mr Deere and Mr Frudeger as captains were orgamzed an,d each team tned to sell a greater num ber of donation txckets than the other Competmon was keen for about two weeks but the Deere team fmally had to concede that the Frudeger team had won nn the contest By that time they had sold tlckets amountmg to Sl 782 00 to a co operatuve commumty and nenghbormg towns The drlve ended ln a Jamboree whlch drew a large audnenpe that was par directed by Mrs Burl Henderson The recenpts from this program were '83 76 l l makmg a total of S2 158 ll collected for the purpopse of buymg umforms. A commxttee conslstmg of Messrs Deere Frudeger Bechtold Mills and Mrs Wagner selected and ordered the umforms The Lnons Club had agreed to buy thnrty unnforms but ransed the number to thnrty two when Mr Mrls offered to buy two more wnth money from the actxvlty fund With the dlrec tor s uniform also puchased wnth actnvntv monev a total of thlrty flve um forms was ordered On February Z9 huge boxes reached the School of the Osage and studnes were forgotten for a tame whnle Rosa Ryan modeled a umform for us They will add much to the attractxveness of the Band and wxll be a constant re mmder that the Lions Club of Lake Ozark rs an actlve and progressnve organi- zatlon I I 0 0 Q 0 ' ticularly interested in seeing local men present the program Anything Goes ,V . . . . . . - .- , .
