?0fL-fddlld The 1965 Trailblazer Stai feels honored to be the first group to present an Ortega Junior High School yearbook. This truly is a banner year in the history of our school. Ortega had its beginning in the fall of 1963 when the district recognized the need for another junior high school. Preliminary plans were for- mulated in the winter of 1963, and the bid for the plant was awarded in February, 1964. The building program progressed quickly, and late September, 1964, found faculty and students moving from the temporary housing at Collins School. We haven't allowed the fact that we are a new school to stand in the way of offering students a complete program in every respect. If the present degree of success is any indication, Ortega can look forward to many full and fruitful years.
