Mrs. Day is advisor to the yearbook and school newspaper. She teaches journalism, one of the English electives added this year. Miss Gooder (below right) announced her retirement from teaching late in November. Her classes were taken over by Mr. Kramer who returns to OHS after two years absence. Mr. Kramer teaches Magazine Literature and English I classes. 25

TITLE I teachers Miss Thompson (above left), Mrs. Johansen (middle), and Mr. Millet (above right) are specially trained to work closely with students in identification of reading problems and and to provide means for students in English to improve in speed and comprehension. When Mrs. Juhl (above) left at Christmas to await the arrival of Eric Juhl (born Jan. 10th), her classes were taken over by Miss Buzzini (right). Foreign Language Department Mr. Hughes's favorite saying: You blocks, you stones, you worse than useless things . In the foreign language department this year, French, Spanish, and Latin languages were offered. In the French department, French 3 and 4 were separate classes. The French Club was reactivated and met during seventh period French 4 class. French 1 and 2 tried out new text-books this year. In the Spanish section, advanced students combine a study of the culture with practice in speaking techniques. Spanish film strips and library books in Spanish are available for students wishing to practice language. 26 Right: Mr. Hughes does his thing .
