Living on a farm in a small village by Salzburg, Kris learned much about the day-to-day living of atypical Austrian family. She learned how to milk a cow, clean the pig stall, and make hay. Kris’ new family, consisting of two older brothers, 18 and 19, her sister Christl, 16, and Mama and Papa devoted much of their time i n showing her the beautiful and fascinating sights of Austria. The boys handily beat Las Plumas and retained the victory bell for the fifth consecutive year and upset the Oakmont Vikings who finished above our Tigers in league standing. The boys were seriously hampered throughout the season by many injuries, although the outstanding performances by Jim Hoff-meier, Mike Hansell, and Mike Voris, highlighted the year. This was the last of Mr. Johnson's thirteen year coaching career at O. H. S. The boys especially appreciate his enthusiastic leadership and the student body is proud of the effort he and his assistants showed. This record could have been improved, for touchdowns in two games were called back that would have given the J. V. squad a victory. The freshman football team this year demonstrated their fighting spirit. Their 0-4-2 record doesn't show the great football they played. Highlights of the year's action include a 7-7 tie with a tough Bidwell squad and a grueling 6-6 draw with the cross-town rival, Las Plumas. Among the outstanding players were Backs Paul Wade and Tbm Noyer and Linemen Bob Henning and David Scott. Everyone is happy with the effort these boys put out, and they'll make a promising J. Tigers Bring Home This year Oroville High's Varsity Tigers participated in two basketball tournaments, the Yuba City Holi-da Tournament and the J.C. Nisbet Tournament hosted by Oroville. The Tigers carried away first and second place trophies respectively. The Yuba City Tournament was held December 15,16, 17, and brought the Tigers winning streak to 9 straight wins b defeating Vacaville 59-49, Chico 60-53, and Marysville 41-37 for the championship. Both Ken Steele and Larry Smith were elected to the all tournament team, and Eurtis Jones, FranKeller, Dan Robertson, and especially Lonnie Smith put in fine performances along with help from team members JeffWarren, Ben La Sar-te, Mike Voris, and Art Plantinitis. The Tigers was the only team participating in the J. C. Nisbet Tournament, held March 2,3,4, to remain undefeated. However, because the Nisbet Tourney was based on the total net pjoints rather than wins Oroville came in second only to Franklin High's Yellow Jackets from Stocton. Center, Eurtis Jones, and guard Fran Keller were elected to the all tournament team with fine support from Larry and Lonnie Smith, Ken Steele, Jeff Warren, Dan Robertson, Art Plantinitis and the other team members. The final standing was Franklin +92, Oroville +78, Del Valle +1, Highlands -4, Pleasant Hill -11, Ponderosa -71, and Las Plumas -85. Congratulations Mr. Millet and boys for a job well done! merely the activities and the events of this school year, but we have also tried to present the people who wereOroville High----the administrators, fac- ulty, personnell, and the students. Our method was the use of expression in photography and copy. The resulting effects or success of our attempts is left to the opinion of the reader. With this goal in mind we hope to have created a book which portrays the true expressions of every day school life.
