I CO DEDICATION 4 We dedicate the 1965 Nugget to Bill Huston, whose spirited personality and ready helpfulness merit the admiration given him by students and fellow workers. One can always find him in the supply room, with a cheerful attitude and smiling face. Mony students with jammed lockers and lost books flock to him for assistance. Known as Old Faithful to family and friends, Bill Huston can always be found around school, or at a school function. He also takes care of attendance at all school games. One of his co-workers remarked that she has never known him to turn down a person in need of assistance. Among all his other duties, Bill still finds time to drive a Sunday School bus for his church. Words describing Bill are cooperative, well liked, respected, and an all around swell guy. So if you re ever in need of help just look for the man behind the counter with a big smile. Luis graduated from the local high school in Salcedo, Ecuador, which is 80 miles south of the capital Quito. After his graduation from Oroville High, he will tour the United States and then go back to Ecuador. There he will continue his education at Central University in Quito with a pre-med major with hopes of being a doctor. Luis is the youngest in his family of six children. His oldest brother is in the Air Force and another is a doctor. Two of his sisters are teachers and the other is a Doctor of Chem istry. His father teaches math at the high school there and his mother is now a retired teacher after 37 years in that field. Luis has excelled in all of his classes and has been known at O.H.S. for his outgoing personality and sharp wit. The whole school wishes our Ecuadorian Embassador the best of luck in his future goals. Luis enjoys a game of Chess with his brothers. To see Luis and Doug bomb” to school is a familiar sight to O.H.S. students. Luis and his American family, Mr. and Mrs. Keener, Tom, Luis, and Doug. Amoung them are talent assemblies, awards assemblies and special assemblies, all of which aided in breaking the routine of the Regular day. Students showed their enthusiam by singing, dancing, playing the piano, and putting on short and amusing skits to entertain their fellow students. Varsity yell leaders lend their spirit to the success of the rallies. RALLIES Juniors win again. Senior football players make last appearance. 130 Girls?!? Hurray, for Kathy, the heroine! Oroville High School students welcomed the many rallies held to promote school spirit, by encouraging students to attend the games and cheer our teams to victory. Enthusiasm was aroused by skits performed at the rallies, and car parades held after school. The Oroville - Las Plumas rally and game were the highlights of the year with Oroville winning the Victory Bell for the third consecutive time. Competition yells, student participation, and school spirit accounted for the unusual success of rallies this year. Mixed emotions are roused during rallies. Back to the old routine after a pepped-up rally. Varsity boys anxiously await first big game. Criminals caught wearing red on color days. Mourning burial of the Las Plumas Thunderbirds 1: DANCES There wore many memorable nights this year because of the variety of dances held at Oroville High. They climaxed the football, and basketball games and were sponsored by different classes and various clubs to aid in their money-raising functions The Undertakers , the Velvatones , and the Cavaliers were among the many bands that played for our dances. There seems to have been a rise in school spirit this year, and the turn-out has been greater than in previous years. STUDENT MOODS Many moods were visible around the campus this year. Students experienced joy, elation, frustration, misery, and boredom in the course of their studies and activities. The joy often came from a high grade on a test, a winning touchdown or home run, or just enjoying school life. Gloom descended when a crucial game was lost or a bad report card issued. Frustration occured when an equation wouldn't balance, boredom, when it seemed the period would never end.
