This year’s hard-working Nugget Staff was, left to right, Linda Gross, text; Penny Alexandris, editor; Carolyne Moseley, layouts; Margot Kantola, sports; and Jan Adams, photography. We’ve tried our best to give you a Nugget which we hope you’ll like. As you can see from our pictures, we spent every minute of our time working. Although our school is smaller this year, the Nugget remains the same size — 168 pages in all, and if you’ll notice, the pages are a larger size this year. We hope you’ll have a pleasant time as you scrutinize the following pages. 3

DEDICATION... It often happens in the course of one’s life that someone comes along and in a quiet unobtrusive manner becomes a steadying influence upon the persons with whom he is associated. Such a man is Mr. Walburn. He became an employee of Oroville High School in May 1946. A little time later he was put in charge of the custodial staff. When Las Plumas High was built he was given the additional responsibility of its care. To say that Mr. Walburn has been an employee of the District is not enough. He has been far more than that — a friend, a counselor, a willing aid to student, teacher and administrator alike. It was not just a job he performed — it was a service he rendered and he took pride in doing all things well. Time was of no consequence. If it helped someone solve a problem, he was there to do his part quietly, cheerfully and efficiently. His warm personality made it a pleasure to work with him. Some one has said that you never miss the drum in a band until it is not there. When Mr. Walburn leaves, something will be missing, something hard to define in words but clear as a fine toned bell in the hearts of his associates. God Speed and Happy Landings to Mr Walburn and his good wife. J. C. N. 5
