Um gfcbfofzq ln the fall of 'Sl we entered Orono as freshmen. Our class officers were Jimmy Swanson, president, Bette Lehto, secretary-treasurer, and Jon Balme, vice-president. ln our sophomore year our class sponsored the Heart Hop. Bette Lehto and Russell Norum were our Jack and Jill of Hearts. Guiding us through the year were Nancy Olander, our sophomore president, and Jimmy Swanson, our vice-president. Todd Fruen served as class treasurer and Mary Johnson was our class secretary. Our Homecoming attendant was Doris Ann Sletten. As iuniors we started the year with big intentions by winning a trophy for Homecoming display. Also at this time we chose Marilynne Johnson as our attendant to the Homecoming Queen. Following this, we went at our magazine sale very enthusiastically and reached our goal of 51500. Junior Miss was our class play. Again this year we sponsored the Heart Hop with Suzanne Wasgatt and Jimmy Swanson being crowned Jack and Jill of Hearts. We also sponsored the Fall Frolic and many Flash dances. Marilynne Johnson carried a big load by being our junior class president. The other officers-Todd Fruen, vice-president, Patsy Budd, treasurer, and Freddie Poisson, secretary -were also very capable. The year ended successfully by our sponsoring the Junior-Senior Prom at the Lemington Hotel. As seniors we found ourselves being guests at the Junior-Senior Prom as well as being sponsors for the Home- coming activities. Doris Ann Sletten was Homecoming Queen and Lois Thomas and Marilynne Johnson were her senior attendants. As a memorial to future Homecoming Queens, we gave a rhinestone crown. Our senior class officers were Freddie Poisson, president, Doug Anderson, vice-president, Margaret Houck, treasurer, and Mary Johnson, sec- retary. To spend the wealth accumulated by our class, we went on an extravagant class trip to Chicago for two days. 16
