FOREWORD High school life is a thrilling phrase of our lives filled with work, pleasures and ambitions. In future years you will look back on these happy days when they are only a pleasant memory. To provide a means of recalling these pleasureable days the staff has compiled in this 1953 Orion Annual a record of your high school activities. They hope you will enjoy this review of the 1952-53 school year now and in years to come. 3

DEDICATION From the beginning of the district-consolidation the Orono schools have striven to build and maintain high standards of scholarship, leader ship, and service. During the past four years these high standards have been continued and new goals have been reached in our school life. We, the Senior Class of 1953, dedicate the year book to the man who by his unflagging efforts and conscientious service has contributed much to the success of these goals --Superintendent of the Orono Consolidated Schools, Mr. Carlton W. Lytle. 2
