SPORTS 71.4 eww, ew slders 30 yard l1ne as the half ended The R1OtS fought to Bar Harbor s 9 yard llne early 1n the third frame but lost the ball on downs and shortly before the per1od ended the Seaslders took an 18-12 lead on a 42 yard run for the converslon The de termlned Rlots fought back desperately but txme ran out Wlth Orono 1n possession of the ball on Bar Harbor s 10-yard lme BUCKSPORT 0 21 The R1OtS Just couldn t get started on a very wet and muddy field as they went down 1n defeat at the hands of the Bucksport team Orono klcked off to start the game and after an exchange of punts Bucksport V13 left end scored a touchdown and an extra polnt shortly before the per1od ended The Bucks agaln got possesslon ln the second per1od and scored leavlng the Rlots on the short end of a 12 0 score as the half -ended In the thlrd per1od Orono held 1ts own defensxvely but couldnt get a scormg dr1ve started The Bucks rolled agaln ln the last frame thxs tlme convertlng after a score and trappmg a Rlot back ln the end zone for two polnts The closlng mmutes saw Orono presentlng 1ts major threat w1th Lounsbury catchlng a 20 yard pass from Deering This put Orono on the Bucks 10-yard marker but tlme ran out before they could score Forty seven . . 7114: Gannon Gum SPORTS DOVER FOXCROFT 7 13 After a hstless filst half the Dover Ponles caught fire and came from behind to dovsn Olono 13 7 in a hotly contested Llttle Ten football game The first half was all Orono as the Rlots who were completely outwelghed ln the line made use of thelr speed and cusp blocking to r1p Wlde gaps 1n the Dover l1ne Early ln the second perlod Dover was forced to punt and Orono moxed the ball to the 30 yard l1ne Three plays later Morrison sco1 ed and 010110 led 7 0 at half tlme The Rl0tS bogged down late ln the third perlod and Dover scoled on a 78 yard run and thlS was the turnlng' polnt of the game In the fourth perlod Dover began to roll and added a touchdown and extra polnt to thelr total The game ended with Orono trylng va1nly to score from deep m thelr own terrltory BELFAST 6 6 Orono had to settle for a 6 6 tle against a surprlsmg Crosby team Startxng on thelr first downs and two plays later Morrlson added the touchdown to g1Ve Orono a 6 0 lead Belfast was st1ll unable to get started and recelvlng a punt Orono started a second drlve whlch ended four yards short of a touchdown sholtly before the first half ended Orono finally bogged down after trylng to move double thelr own Welght all afternoon and Belfast scored shortly after the fourth frame got under way Th1S knotted the score at 6 6 and the game ended wlth Belfast on the Orono 43 yard l1ne BAR HARBOR 12 18 Playlng one of thelr most important games of the season without the services of thelr head coach due to an accldent the 010110 forces put up a determined battle but lost Orono after recoverlng a fumble shortly after the klck-off scored four plays late1 wlth Cornell gomg through right tackle for the converslon The R1OtS determined to wm thls one for thelr coach agaln scored near the end of the first perlod w1th Deermg gomg' all the way on an lnterceptlon from hls own 28 yard l1ne In the second peIlOd, Bar Harbor came back strong w1th two con versxons one a pass and the other on a short run and knotted the score at 12-12 w1th Orono ln possesslon on the Sea- Fofrty szx own 38-yard line, Orono took the ball to Crosby's 18-yard line on three consecutive g g . . . ,

OLD TOWN 12 14 SPORTS Extra points was the deciding factor ln this game as Old Town won th1S hotly contested battle by a two polnt margin 14 12 Orono scored first White found a small path of dayllght ln the left slde of the yq lme and high talled It to the Promised Land out racing the Indlan secondarles Vla a pass 1. ,,.,.f'W and a conversion Old Town left J 'fx 5'1- the field with a 7 6 adv antage at +P half tlme The thlrd per1od was M M' evenly played and in the fourth period the Indians again scored on a pass and a conversion to take the lead The Rlots came back strong and added a second tally to close the gap to two points Orono was on Old Towns ten yard stripe and rapidly nearing pay dirt when the clock spoiled all hopes by runnlng out of time DEXTER 6 32 The Dexter Tigers showed plenty of class 1n routing the Red Rlots by a 32 6 margin and neared the L1ttle Ten Championship Both teams scored the first tlme they got pos session of the ball and the score was knotted 6 6 w1th1n thx ee minutes of the start Dex ter wlth its sparklmg brand of ball scored twice in the second frame and at the half time Orono was on the short end of an 18 6 scoie Both teams threatened in the third period with the Riots moving to the Dexter 35 befoze an interception stopped their drlve It wasn t untll the fourth pe11od howevel that the score was changed Wlth Dex ter adding two more counters via a pass and a shoit run to end the one sided contest ELLSWORTH 0 6 The Eagles banged over for a touchdown in the foulth period to shade the Orono Red R10tS in their last game of the season Aftel playing through three scoreless periods the Eagles countered the game s lone score w1th the a1d of a blocked punt 1n the fourth period when trymg to kick out of danger The Eagles broke through the light Orono llne and blocked the kick A series of runmng plays put the ball in pay dlrt.
