5p0RT5 'flue Gaavuan Gaim LINCOLN 14 7 The Red Rlots traveled to L1ncoln for thexr first game of the season and opened the Llttle Ten season wlth a thrlller that wasn t declded untll mldway through the thlrd perlod L1ncoln gamed a 7 0 lead durmg the early mmutes of the second perlod An aerlal pass from Deerlng to L Treadwell 1n the closmg seconds left them on the short end of a 7 6 score the lead by recovermg a fumble behmd the Lmcoln goal l1ne A few mm utes later Freshman Erv1n MOFTISOD ran 8 yards around hlS own rlght end for a TD and the Rlots led 14 7 L1ncoln trled to come back ID the fourth perxod but t1me ran out and the game ended Wlth the Lmcs ln possesslon of the ball ln thelr own terrltory. 7114: Gannon Gum SPORTS DOVER FOXCROFT 7 13 After a hstless filst half the Dover Ponles caught fire and came from behind to dovsn Olono 13 7 in a hotly contested Llttle Ten football game The first half was all Orono as the Rlots who were completely outwelghed ln the line made use of thelr speed and cusp blocking to r1p Wlde gaps 1n the Dover l1ne Early ln the second perlod Dover was forced to punt and Orono moxed the ball to the 30 yard l1ne Three plays later Morrison sco1 ed and 010110 led 7 0 at half tlme The Rl0tS bogged down late ln the third perlod and Dover scoled on a 78 yard run and thlS was the turnlng' polnt of the game In the fourth perlod Dover began to roll and added a touchdown and extra polnt to thelr total The game ended with Orono trylng va1nly to score from deep m thelr own terrltory BELFAST 6 6 Orono had to settle for a 6 6 tle against a surprlsmg Crosby team Startxng on thelr first downs and two plays later Morrlson added the touchdown to g1Ve Orono a 6 0 lead Belfast was st1ll unable to get started and recelvlng a punt Orono started a second drlve whlch ended four yards short of a touchdown sholtly before the first half ended Orono finally bogged down after trylng to move double thelr own Welght all afternoon and Belfast scored shortly after the fourth frame got under way Th1S knotted the score at 6 6 and the game ended wlth Belfast on the Orono 43 yard l1ne BAR HARBOR 12 18 Playlng one of thelr most important games of the season without the services of thelr head coach due to an accldent the 010110 forces put up a determined battle but lost Orono after recoverlng a fumble shortly after the klck-off scored four plays late1 wlth Cornell gomg through right tackle for the converslon The R1OtS determined to wm thls one for thelr coach agaln scored near the end of the first perlod w1th Deermg gomg' all the way on an lnterceptlon from hls own 28 yard l1ne In the second peIlOd, Bar Harbor came back strong w1th two con versxons one a pass and the other on a short run and knotted the score at 12-12 w1th Orono ln possesslon on the Sea- Fofrty szx own 38-yard line, Orono took the ball to Crosby's 18-yard line on three consecutive g g . . . ,
