BAR HARBOR 32-6 The Riots again proved that their poten- tial power was great, trouncing Bar Harbor rn a hard fought tussle With a score m every period Orono added 32 more pomts to its scor mg total while holdmg the Seasrders to a lone tally After scoring marches of 43 and 72 yards rn the first and second quarters re spectryely Hashey scored twice m the third quarter on a four yard run and again on a 60 yard krck runback Both tea ns added an other score m the last stanza Orono agaln won the battle of statistics 314 yards on the ground to 97 for Bar Harbor and 17 first downs to 9 The forward wall was at its best especially Bunky St Lawrence who stopped many Seasrders at hrs tackle posr tron Hashey and Sullrx an scored 3 and 2 touchdowns respectively to rn crease their totals BUCKSPORT 0 6 Our only loss of the season was the one that cost us another PVC Small School Championship The game was fairly ex en with neither team able to advance much on the muddy Held The Riots show ed a slight bulge rn yardage 134 to 118 but Bucksport marked off 9 hrst downs to our 6 The only score came rn the second per rod when a fourth down 21 yard pass gave the Bucks 6 polnts Bucksport kicked off and Sullivan gave the ball to Hashey at our 12 Hashey covered the length of the field but the score was called back when the oflicrals ruled the ball had touched the sideline stripe After that both teams gained consider ably rn mid field but neither could start a scor mg drive Hashey Sullrx an and Chase vs ere the most consistent ground gamers for Orono OLD TOWN 9 6 A wet but enthusiastic crovsd saw the Riots continue their mastery oy er the Indians from the Canoe City outlastrng Old Town m a hard fought muddy game The actual margin was probably more than the score rndrcated srnce brilliant defensive work by the Orono lme particularly Dick Ingersoll 1 , , - . . as playing outstanding ball throughout the V - o.,. 1 p , game, Page broke his ankle late in the fourth period and was out for the rest of the season DOVER 0 0 Neither Dox er nor Orono revealed rts true strength in this earlv season game which was fought to a scoreless tre Don Hashey was top ground garner for Orono as the Riots prled up 111 yards on the ground whrle a solid line held the Ponies to 12 W A Shands played a good game at end but due to a knee rngury received in thrs game was out for the rest of the season Herb Doten was also outstanding at guard Orono had only one chance to score and this was lost by a penalty The Riots could gain rn the mrddl of the field but not inside the 30 yard lme while Foxcr oft could not gain much anywhere making only 2 first downs rn the entire game BELFAST 34 6 With Don Hashey and Dick Sullivan accumulatrng 207 yards between them Orono finally broke into the victory column These two bore the brunt of the attack and scored all but one of Orono s touchdowns Llttle Bobby Deering scored the other touchdown through the legs of a Crosby guard There was no doubt as to which was the better team as the statistics con 223 yards to 22 and rolled up 13 first downs to 3 for their opponents Nlck Hashey particularly as well as the rest of an obvr ously strong lme contributed greatly to this victory After rolling up a four touchdown lead Coach Emerson put hrs reserves ln enabling Belfast to score their one and only touchdown With the first team back rn however the Riots had httle trouble in going 49 yards for their fifth and final score . . .
