THE SENIORS This phrase has been extremely lmportant each year to a group of students ln room elght especlally to us who are now completing our last year at Orono Hlgh When 1943 rolled around an eager group of young sters set aslde Grammar School habits and made their acquaintance with th1s mstltutlon These students now leaders IH the same school can look back on their accompl1shments wlth satlsfactlon and prlde A summary of our final year w1ll glve an 1nd1cat1on of the contrlbutlons to school life that our wlsdom and experlence have made posslble With a rapld glance at the well 1n1t1aled desks filled with obvlously mtelhgent pupils one can readlly see that our classmates have been 1deal directors for the various act1v1t1es that functioned wlthln our four walls There are six brawny senlors that will never again spend thelr Autumn afternoons watchmg the Hlgh Schools shadow spread 1tself across the football field There will be other fields but the rocks and holes will be 1n dlfferent places Old echoes w1ll rumble along the upper corridor remmdlng the new cheerleaders of the three sparklmg maidens that won the approval of the crowd 1n years past A dlfferent set of faces w1ll appear on the however will stlll be Vlewed on the back of the light board wlth all the partlcxpants llsted under It No one w1ll forget that tlllgllllg moment when the curtain went up to reveal another smashlng success presented by the class of 49 Other Wlnter Carnlvals w1ll come and go but no one could ever overlook that group of Thesplans that year after year walked off wlth the prizes nor w1ll the SIX charming glrls and their Queen soon fade out of remembrance The trophy 1n the Llbrary may gather dust but dust can never erase the name which proves our class was a leader 1n thls annual affair Although playmg Basketball was a lot of fun xt will be a rellef to play on a floor ln the future on which you can shoot from any spot and also not have to worry about plcklng up any spllnters from an uncom promlslng stage Our notorious baseball players Wlll never again play on another team quite llke the Orono Rlots All m all, hlgh school has been fun for us ln spite of the laborlous assignments handed out by the teachers These mstructors must admlt however that havmg a member of the class of 49 1n h1s class has always been qulte an experience We feel that attendmg Orono Hlgh School has been both an honor and a prlvllege, and we know that Senior classes ln the future will feel the same way A man got word the other day that his uncle was all unstrung, so he sent him a wire. , . , . , . . 3 ' . . . . . y .
