Our forwards did a wonderful job of scoring while the guards did a swell job on defense. Our biggest thrill was defeating Morrisville which wound up the season with a 17-1 record. Many thanks go to Mr. Barton, who kept our spirits up and deserves much credit for our success . Boys, Basketball FIRST TEAM CHEERLEADERS Kneeling: P.Royer, L,Metcalf, M.Todd, W.Rice, W.B1ake. C.Prey. Standing: D,Stoddard, H,l-Iemenway, D,Meehan, T.Racine, R,Marcotte, Coach Whitaker The team experienced several exciting close games this season. The student body showed much spirit and many townspeople attended the games. The first eight were: Ken Wheeler, Amxand Pa- quin, Windy Herman, jerry Joslyn, Choc LeBlanc, Paul Racine, and Steve Alexander. The climax of the season was when Orleans defeated Barton in a play- off game which qualified us to enter the Class M State Toumament. The junior Varsity have several good prospects for the 1959-60 season. We extend our thanks to Mr. Whitaker who through many hours of practice, deserves much credit for our success . M, Emerson I, Marcotte C, Desbiens S, Merchant R, Emmerson The O.H.S. cheerleaders had much enthusiasm and pep. Cheer- ing the boys on to victory, they have been an inspiration to all. In the past year the Orleans chapter has been very active in the association, community, and the state Several boys spent three days at the Eastern States Exposition which was held in Springfield Wendell Her man and Arestide Hamel, jr. , chosen delegates, attended the Boston Milk Marketing trip At the District meeting held in Orleans, the group won the Chapter Meeting Contest, which entitles its members to attend the State Convention. 2 QI? Row 2: M.C1eveiand, Joyce Royer, P.Dutton, D.Rexford, B.Wheeler, S.Hemenway, J.Moquin, K.Sandrin, N.Lawson, L.Young, M.Thomas, T.Choiniere, E.Lawes. Row 3: L.Maishuk, L.Lamarche, J.Rush1ow, C.LeB1anc, C.Young, E.Hunr, V.Wright, N.McGowan, P.Robinson, Jo- anne Royer. The Orleans Chapter of Future Homernakers of America has had a very busy and profitable year. At the September meeting Sandi Merchant, State President of FHA, spoke to us about her trip to Kansas City, Mo. , last summer, where she attended the National Convention of Future Homemakers as a state delegate. Seventeen new members were initiated at this meeting. Twenty one members and our advisor, Mrs . Houghaboom, attended the District FHA meeting held in Barre, September 20. A very successful fashion show, United Nations program, Parents' Night, a Christmas party, Home Decoration meeting, and a Valentine party were held. On April 17 and 18, State Convention was held in Stowe, Vt. FHA week was observed April 5-ll. Our Annual Mother and Daughter Banquet with installation of new officers climaxed the year. We wish to thank Mr. and Mrs . Fern Hemenway and Mr. and Mrs . Earl Young for being our Chapter Parents this year. 28
