Many of you will con- tinue your education at various schools and colleges. For a number of you, graduation marks the end of your formal education. It has been a distinct pleasure and privilege for me to work with you this year. I would like to take this op- portunity to wish each and every one of you, the very best of everything in the years that lie ahead. L.I. vs O.H.S. in play-off game in 1956 Classy Histor - ln the fall of '47 our class history begang We entered first grade under Mrs . Whitcomb's command. She greeted Janice, Katy and Sue, then Noticed that Bonnie and Ruthie were there, too. We heard about Sally, Dick and jane And we all leamed to print our name. The next year we entered grade two, And it was Mrs . Hardie who said How do you do? This year we were joined by a boy named Will, And we brought plants to put on the window sill. 'riting and 'rithmetic were our greatest task But after learning, we could do them really fast. Now on to Mrs. Davis and grade three We all tried our luck at a spelling bee. Remember how the boys had to eat the chalk And were so scared they couldn't even balk. Wanita joined the happy crew, And when the pencils fell, down we all flew. Then on upstairs and to grade four Where Miss Stearns helped us learn still more. Multiplying and dividing to us were brand new But studying hard we soon pulled through. We leamed about the cave men and had a minstrel show Our first big performance and we knew our parents would go! On to the fifth and Mrs . Mills Here we started taking vitamin pills . Forty-eight states and capitals we now knew, Learned to use the scissors, paper and glue. When recess came we headed for our wraps And jumped rope til we were called back. Then came grade six--Miss Rogers we met joined by Sandy and johnny whom we were lucky to get. We all became patrols and were boss of the rest, We bought tonettes and played our best. When our birthday came it was a great thrill For we each had a party and ate our fill. Finally the big day, we entered O.H.S. Seventh grade with Miss Williams was a big success. We had our first taste of basketball, And the news in Current Events was of interest to all! We put on a play, each dressed in disguise, Sisters Under the Skin and we won first prize. Our year in the eighth grade was full of joysg There were lots of girls and only three boys . Mr. Fortin, our teacher, was our basketball coach The cheerleaders were proud and really could boast. This year we again put on a play, Some Women Were Talking And our other activities really kept us rocking. Our Freshman year, we greeted many new faces, With Mr. Romano, our sponsor, we really went places. The night of our initiation we were scared But it was the first event we all shared. From there on, we were all the best of friends, Music and dancing were the modem trend. Our sophomore year was much the same With Mrs . Houghaboom we made initiation a game. This year our treasury began to grow, Food sales and a paper drive helped it to do so. Now we really had to buckle down, Our subjects were harder, no fooling around We entered our Junior year with Mrs . White And we tried to do everything right. This year we gave the girls a chance By sponsoring the Sadie Hawkin's Dance. junior Prom was our greatest event, Those lanterns and streamersg think of the time we spent! Our senior year, the last at O.H.S. The time just seemed to fly with zest. We worked hard all year to raise some money We wanted our class trip to be a honey. Mrs . England helped make our graduation a success Everyone said it was the very best. Twelve wonderful years of being together Possess many memories that will last forever.
