The first event was the football homecoming. During the year we had to plan for fun-raising activities in preparation for the Prom at the end of the year. We sponsored a cake walk and a jail booth at the O.A.C. carnival. We ended our year with the Junior-Senior Prom. We felt that all our expectations, anticipations, and hopes were fulfilled with the success of the prom. It is the hope of our class members that because of these activities you will have some fond memories of the year at O.H.S. Fif SPQNSOR ' 'Q IN-f' SPONSOR Miss Rosalyn F. Rich MI. OUR MUSICAL PAST Our vocal groups participated in several concerts, school assemblies, and community activities under the guidance of Miss Annalee Harris. One of the highlights of the year was the Christmas con- cert, held at the Orleans Municipal Theater. The high school band, directed by Miss Jan Markle, also had a rewarding year. Uniforms were purchased by the Band Boosters' Club. The band played at football and basketball games, the Christ- mas concert, and the spring concert. The Band Follies reflected the progress of the whole group. Organized by several high school musicians, the Blue Notes made their debut at the Home- coming Dance. Mr. Perry at the piano and Miss Markle at the clarinet helped maintain the spark needed for many successful social evenings. r fX-x.-.,v-f- J D. STUDENT COUNCIL REPCRT The student council started the year with two weeks of campaigning. For four- teen days posters and political data were posted in every possible space. Each candi- date was backed by a petition signed by fifty members of the student body and at least one campaign manager. The day of election speeches were given on behalf of the candidates and by the candidates themselves. Ed Anderson was re-elected president for the 1960-61 school year. The president and a hard working group of representatives began their yearly tasks. The main purpose of the student government is to teach students responsibili- ties in school affairs. They work closely with the faculty and therefore create a better student-teacher relationship. Delegates have been sent to various conventions in France and Germany and through these meetings we have derived benefits on organizing and maintaining the high standards that every school and student government hope to achieve during a school year. LIBERTF FGALITIE ET FRATERNITF The Franco-American Clubs have furthered the education of the American stu - dent by promoting knowledge of French customs, educational systems, and history. They promote the better understanding of Orleans and also the surrounding cities and country itself. A most important accomplishment is providing a better understanding between the French and American people. The French and American students are brought closer together in the understand- ing of beliefs, customs, living habits, and culture. The main objective of our clubs is to promote better understanding between French and American students, to encourage students to see the many beautiful places of France and to use their knowledge of the French language by becoming acquainted with the French. We also had an active social life with the F.H.A. initiation, the tea for mothers, dinner for student council, and a fashion show. SADIE HAWKINS DANCE THE FIRST TIME IGOT MARRIED The first time I got married, 'Twas a young man name of Lance And I had the special wedding At the Sadie Hawkins Dance. The ring was twisted wire, My heart did leap for joy. I found myself quite lucky, My husband was a boy. The preacher was a fat one, A real, outstanding hamg Although we call him Bopper, His name is Marryin' Sam. We got a piece of paper, That just fulfilled our need. He said it was a licenseg I'd know ifI could read. Of course I had to kiss him, And although I'm very shy, 1 must admit to you here, It wasn 't hard to try. To win I had to catch himg I drug him in at last, And though he fought me fiercely He didn 't run so fast. In all, I really loved it, But this I have to say, I'll not again get married If I'm the one to pay.
