Class Poem Our class has eleven members There have been more I can remember. Some are short, some are tall, Some are chubby and some are small. We worked and played together In fair and stormy weather. Sometimes we were happy, sometimes sad, Sometimes good and sometimes bad. Now let's look at us each one by one But let's remember it is all in fun. wilma's the girl with a million friends Let's hope our friendship never ends. Virginia's a Spade but not a card In school she has always worked hard. And our secretary, that's me I'm as happy as can be. Our Shirley handles all the money We all think she's a honey. Barbara reports all the news And keeps us posted on the views. Roberta has always been a whiz She beats us all in every quiz. Jimmy really tops us all Because he is so very tall. Then there's Gordon with the curly hair When we need him he is always there. And then there's Mike in smart Dudes clothes what he will come up with no one knows. Marvin is our sure-fire clown For laughs he never lets us down. Noel is fun and a very fine boy He has given us lots of pride and joy. Here we are each and everyone Books closed and lessons done. Going out to the life we choose Some will win and some will lose. To our teachers go our thanks! We are through with childish pranks. To Orland High we owe more than we know Her memory we'll cherish where ever we go. By Agnes Wooster z.s ff's41' ' 6

Class History In the fall of l9hh there were eleven frightened, starry-eyed first graders enrolled in the Orland High School. They were Jimmy Bailey, Willis Bier, Mike Collins, Harold Delong, Richard German, Roberta Herl, Girginia Spade, Gordon Straw, Marilyn Shoup, Agnes Wooster, Gary Whitcomb, and Mrs. Van Wager who was our first exciting teacher. By our second year J.D. Thomas and Phyllis Wilson had joined us. The third year was very flovr- ishing because we gained Tommy Booth, Barbara Bryant, Barbara Cooper, Loren Esterline, Pauline McGowan, Arleen Kaylor, John Malone, Marvin Munger, Noel Sperry, and Ruthann wells. This year our teacher was Mrs. Rowley. In the fourth year we gained Ray Brown and Mrs. Kraning was our patient teacher. In the sixth grade was a exciting year for Mrs. Klingler and for us. One of the exciting contest we had was the great softball game between Jimmy Bailey's team and Mike Collins's team. The score turned out to be one to one. Also this year we helped put on an operetta called 'Hansel and Gretel' which was given on December 6, l9h9. In our seventh year we gained Dean Copas and Glendon Rumsey. Mrs. Rowley was again our teacher. Randall Culver and Lorraine Curtland joined our eighth grade class. This year we vere upstairs with the high school. lt was so hard for us to get down to business and to work. In the nineth year we gained Shirley Melchi, Jackie Nighswoander, and Roger Wheaton. This year we will never forget because of our initiation which we all tuck part in. We were all dressed differently but our faces and arms were all turned red. We all looked funny but we had a lot of fun parading around in our outfits. Than in our tenth year Jilma Vaughn joined our class from Pleasant Lake. December 6th was another exciting day because we received our rings. Also this was the year we expressed our talents by giving the play WThe Uninvited Ghostn at the Halloween Carnival. ln the eleven- vear we gained Shirley Less fran Flint. This year old man work found us at his service. We had our concessions, cards, and magazines to sell. We also gave our junior play called HDeadly Earnestu and it all turned out pretty well. Mrs. Pauline Grabill was our director who helped us give the play with great success. Now comes the vear we all are waiting for--the senior year. This year we, the eleven seniors, are all very busy trying to put out s good annual, publishing the school paper, giving a play, getting ready for graduation and our senior trip. We sincerely enjoyed presenting the senior play entitled Seventeen is awfully Young' which was directed by Mrs. Virginia Chiles. We will always remember these events and think of them when we refer to our good old school days. Ours, truly, has been a hard road, but each step through our twelve years had brought us nearer to success, a fullfill- ment worth waiting for. The class of l956 would like to thank both the facultv and the parents for the kindness and help given to us during our four years of high school. -Jimmy Bailey- N W ll X , H ndq., 56:59, is 5 : Apes . 8 f
