Over 75 years old and still going nfull blastn is the Oriskany Malleable Iron Works Located on the banks of the Oriskany Creek, this stable local industry manufactures iron castings which are shipped to other factories for the further manufacture of agricultural, railroad, hardware, refrigeration, and other kinds of equipment According to President Clarence I DeShong, the Oriskany Malleable Iron provides employment for nearly 90 persons 8

Services The Oriskany Independent Fire 8: Hose Companies 1991 and A42 were founded in 1890 The first appa ratus was a hand drawn, two wheel hose cart, and in the winter a hand drawn, one horse sleigh At that time they had 36 members I ,NS ff At present the department has 65 members. They have one 500- gallon pumper and one emergency truck which is fully equipped to handle any emergency or dis- aster. the fire company also has 12 First-Aid men and main- tains a First-Aid Highway Sta- tion which is under the juris diction of the Red Cross They havea portable lighting outfit, a resuscitator, public address system, Scott Air Packs, and one of the latest to be added isa Kwick Call, whereby if any one has a fire in Oriskany they could go to the telephone, tell operator they have a fire, she will plug them in to Central Fire Station in Utica, and they can turn in the alarm from Ut lca When the firemen arrlve at the Fire House, the location will be coming over the loud speaker which is located in the Fire House H! ,ZZ-X. --S wi fag WT M ,ff Xi!! fx! ji!!
