Could this be leap frog??? Getting ready for the big day. Need any help? OR I SKANY FALLS 21 CANDY DONATIONS Packing tha candy. L.Lathrop D.Wills D.Olmstaad Weighing in ceremony S. Owen 0. Olmstead L. Lathrop Tying the knots. S. Owen L. Lathrop 0. Olmstead 0. Cowles. For the past few years the students of O.F.H.5. have conducted a candy drive after Halloween. The candy is packaged and sent to Viet Nam. This year we were fortunate to have Lt. Col. B. Hayward station- ed with the advisory team in Viet Nam. Mrs. Hayward, the former Evelyn Alberding, and her daughter Lynn were allowed to distribute the candy, and take pictures. The following is an excerpt from a letter from Lt. Col. Hayward On behalf of many happy Montagnard boys and girls here in Lam Dong Provience of Viet Nam,I want to thank you for sharing your Halloween candy with them. ffly wife and daughter were here over Thanksgiving visiting and went to several Montagnard hamlets and oassed it out. From the pictures I enclosed, I'm sure you'll see that they enjoyed it. (Well, Maybe all except the one little girl who thought she was getting bad medicine I guessl)You will notice that they are very poor and have a hard life. Please notice especially the picture taken inside the classroom. How would you like to go to school there? The tragedy is that many of the children that are seven and eignt years of age must work in the fields to help their families and so do not even get to go tc school You ean see the many empty desks. Those who do go to school go six days a week; sit five or six tc a desk on hard benches; have no gym; library, bathrooms, movies, or many school books; walk to school and cannot even imagine what heat or electric ligluts would be like in a classroom.Think about how very for- tunate you arel They did enjoy your candy so much and joined me in saying Miveng Chua Gi fng Sinh V'a Chu Mi eng Nam Moi (Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year I) 22 O’FALLS TO VIET NAM Passing out candy in a classroom Mrs. Hayward passing out the sweets in Laim Dong. among the children in Laim Dong. Lynn Hayward giving a baby a lollv pop. Patiently waiting for their sweet surprise. The little child thinks it's bad medicine. Finally enjoying the candy. 23 STUDENT COUNCIL Sitting; W. Bourdeau, R.
