Senior Class Officers Advisor----Mr Herb Carney, Mulvlhill. Ecker, Secretary--Judy Buckoskl, President- Treasurer Cathy Way, Vice President-----Plan Senior Class Advisor Dear Seniors, Congratulations on the publication of your fine yearbook. May you always think of your school days as happy experiences and browse through your yearbook often for fond recollections and memories The education you have received is much like the foundation of a house; a solid basis for your future growth. We of O.F.H.S. have provided you with the tools with which to build your house. How you will plan the house depends on your own ideals The finished product will be produced slowly ; quality will prevail where quantity would fail. Finally, after more education, you will be able to enjoy and live in your house that education has built. Upon your commencement, I wish to thank you for the opportunity to be your advisor for this past year. Boys’ State Boys' State is something every boy should strive for. It is really a mock political con- vention during which are chosen a governor. It. governor, a group of senators, and other polit- ical officials down to a village basis. Everyone who attends has an equal chance to run for whatever office he desires; there is no disc rim- ination what so ever. There is serious work, but there is also much fun. Actually the work is fun, but there are several athletic meets and tournaments. You would be surprised to see how much you have in common with most of the boys there. It is really a rewarding experience. Award J. Oliver Salutatorian Rotary Citizenship Highest Comm. Ave. Yearbook Award J. VanEtten Valedictorian Elizabeth D'Agostino Highest in Chem. This yearbook is but a small part of all your pages of recollection. Yet, as you turn its rages year after year, it will bring back events which you shall enjoy in retrospect. You may relive again and recall from your four years some personal triumphs and proably some failures, which all together I hope will merge into an unforgettable happy ex- perience . It is my sincere wish that the Class of 1964 will be blessed with a bright and happy future. Walter S. Buckoski Guidance Counselor Who is it that gave us these memorable words which seems so apropos to the goals of our edu- cational system? Dear God, give us the courage to change what we can change, to accept what we cannot change, and to know the difference between the two. Let us hope that the 1964 graduates of Oris- kany Falls High School have gained from their truly American education, at least in some mea- sure not just a book knowledge, but rather those basic principles which will equip them for living and to be contributing members of our human society. May I personally extend to our graduates the heartiest congratulations and warmest best wishes for their future endeavors. May they face the challenging horizon armed with a nostalgic momento of our late President John Fitzgerald Kennedy: It is not what your country can do for you, but rafter what you can do for your country. Edna M. Tanzer, S.N.T. Mr. Charles Dwyer Most schools have psychologists for the very same rea- son' they have teachers—to help pupils learn and to assist them to acquire healthy attitudes and healthy feelings. We know that learning is a very complex and complicated pro- cess and there are many things which make learning dlffi - cult for youngsters. The psychologists' work is somewhat different with the elementary school than it would be with older students. In the Junior and senior high schools he helps students find out why they may be having a difficult tj.me in school ( or outside school for that matter). He tries to help them to find ways to make life easier and to gain enough strength to accept or tolerate a bad situation. School psychologists are also available to you to help think through vocational and or educational plans, to take a hard look at what the future holds and to help you shape it. The psychologist is also available to the parents to help them learn ways of improving their own relationships and feelings with their children. Whatever is said is kept confidentail and not shared with anyone without your permission. What does the psychologist do? Very simple; whatever he does is with you in mind. He does everything to help parents, students, and the teachers in your school. With the arrival of graduation there comes a challenge of meeting a new life. You have no choice. The world is ever changing and you must be ready to change with it. There is no such thing as standing still, either you progress or you retrogress. Education is an everlasting process. Always be alert for the opportunities to learn some- thing new and beneficial to you and your coun- try. Through continued learning you will be able to meet the challenge of the future. I sincerely hope your lives will give you all you deserve. Life is like a photograph ; you get out of it what you put into it. May you all have long rewarding lives filled with work.
