The senior class of 1962, here in our Yearbook, honor our principal, Mr. Walter Buckoskl, for his many years of dedicated service to Orlskany Falls High School. In 1949 he taught Math and Science here, and also was the Gym teacher. He spent the next year teaching In Waterville. He returned in 1951 and has been principal here for the last ten years. On October 1, 1961, Mr. Buckoskl left for Fort Gordan, Georgia, to go into active duty as Captain of the 414th division of The United States Army. Mr. Buckoskl has always been a sympathetic listener to all of our problems in our schedules, our activities, and all the other minute, insignificant, every-day problems of our years in high school. He has always been there when we needed him to lend a word of advice or a guiding hand. As our Physics teacher, we have found him to be an individual. A man who based his opinions, not on other people's opinions , but on facts; tried to establish one specific way of doin'' something way of us to wording a problem or drawing a think for ourselves, to form our personalities and character in us become individuals, unique our in If someone had a different conclusion, he encouraged own opinions, and to develop our own way. In short, he helped everything we plan to do. Mr. Buckoskl's orders state that he will be on active duty six months to a year. When asked how he felt about leavin , replied that he had expected to be called to duty because he was the Reserves. He regretted very much that he had to leave, but felt that since it was seen fit to recall him to active duty, would serve his country to the best of his ability. As the students who have known him, we would like to say that we feel Mr. Buckoskl is a wonderful person, a credit to our community, and a good friend to all of us. We regret that he has had to leave, and we would like to offer him wishes and good luck in this coming crisis. from he in he he our sincerest best The Senior Class of 1962 To all my boys and girls: You may find it difficult to believe that I get sentimental on occasslon—but as I look back over the past 10 years pleasent memories come to mind. I have watched you laugh, cry, sing, study, dance, work, play games, participate in athletics—and experience the whole gamut of emotions peculiar to youth. My association with all this--the process of your growing up—has been a memorable experience which I wouldn't change for anything in the world. Permit me to say what your teachers and many who visit our school have told me— that you are an exceptionally fine, well-behaved group of youngsters. It goes without saying--that each of you--from the cutest little Kindergarten student to the Class of '62—will be in my thoughts while I'm away. Walter S. Buckoskl
