CAPTAIN FRANK S. HAAK, U.S.N. Captain Frank S. Haak received his appointment to the Naval Academy in 1942 and was commissioned an Ensign in 1945. As an Ensign, he commanded three minesweepers in the Pacific and participated in the post-World War II mine clearance of Haiphong, Hainan Island, and various ports in China. Following designation as a Naval Aviator in l949, he was assigned to Patrol Squadron 24. His subsequent tours were in heavy attack squadrons. In 1965-66 Captain Haak served as Executive Qfficer of the USS Forrestal YCVA-595. During 1967-68 he commanded the USS Point Defiance lLSD-313 in a combat cruise in Southeast Asia. ln various shore duty tours Captain I-laak has served in the Office of the Chief of Naval Qperations and twice for the Secretary of the Navy. I-le holds an MS degree in Operations Analysis from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. COMMANDING UFFICER 11 Sqbtember 1970 - Present

REAR ADMIRAL JAMES D. RAMAGE, U.S.N. Rear Admiral James D. Ramage entered the Naval Academy in 1935 and was commissioned an Ensign in 1939. After designation as a Naval Aviator in 1942, he reported to the USS Enterprise QCV-61 Where he served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of Bombing Squadron 10 from 1943 to 1944. ln 1947 he was assigned to the USS Bairolco KCVE-1151 as Navigator, and in 1952 he became Commander Air Group NINETEEN, embarked on Orislcany. He assumed command of the USS Salisbury Sound lAV-131 in 1960 and the USS lndependence KCVA-623 in 1963. ln 1966 he was assigned as Chief of Staff and Aide to Commander Task Force SEVENTY- SEVEN. Prior to assuming command of Carrier Division SEVEN, Rear Admiral Ramage served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Operations for the Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet. He has attended the Naval War College and the National War College. He holds an MS degree in lnternational Affairs from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
