IGISCU On 18 February 1956, the U. S. S. ORISKANY pointed her proud bows toward tl1e Orient and sailed out of San Francisco Bay. Tearful goodbyes to loved ones, last minute details, the hustle and bustle of departure, characterized our final hour in the States. By the time we had passed beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, We were at once sad and expectant. Sad because of those we left behind, expectant because betore us was a new adventure.
