C ass H1sf0ry Belng the f1rst class to graduate from C R Hanna 1n 1956 we were qutte proud and a httle scared as all seventy three of us walked up the steps that flrst day ln August We looked at the senlors wtth awe d respect and thought to ourselves l wonder lf we ll make 1t ' To start us on our way we elected John Nyboer Prestdent Mar1eneJohnson Vtce Presldent Lee Engstrom Secretary and Charles Schnetder, Trea ut er They all dtd thetr best to lead us and we passed wtth flytng colors As sophomores deterrmned to get ahead we selected as our leaders Pres1dent John Nyboer Vxce Prestdent, Lee Engstrom Secretary Davtd Leaf Treasurer Marvel Knowles and Reporters Rtchard Rehn and Norma Rosst We took spectal care tn our party for thts year because we were gotng to entertam the green freshmen. Later on tn the year a selected few were chosen to be wattresses and walters at the prom Then once agatn school was out and we moved up to a htgher class In our juntor year w1th the prom tn slght we elected Betty Westerlund, Prestdent Larry Seabloom V1ce Prestdent, Marvel Knowles, Secretary Norma Rosst Treasurer, Reporters Judy Carlson and Judy Htatt. We presented our class play Htllbtlly Weddtnl thts year wtth Mr Maertens d1rect1ng us Although we were new at thts sort of thtng, tt was a btg success The cltmax of the year was our Juruor Sentor Prom w1th Hawanan Shores servmg as our theme. Doc Hunt's Orchestra prestded over the evenmg wtth the htghltght of Bonme Wtlson and Ralph Boney bemg crowned Kmg and Queen Kenny Hamerhnck accepted the crown tn Ralph s absence. We were qulte proud of thts eventng for we had entertalned the senlors at a wonderful prom. Our Junlor year we left O C U.H.S a lxttle wtser but a ltttle sadder because we knew when we came back for our semor year we d have no one ahead of us to follow We d have to set the examples and shoul der the respons1b1l1t1es Our sen1or year was a wonderful year for us Judy Carlson rece1vedtheD A.R award Carolyn Johansen was honored as Valedtctortan and Lee Engstrom was honored as Salutatortan of our class We selected as our leaders for the year Prestdent Lee Engstrom Vtce Prestdent Davxd Anderson Sec retary Terry Botsford Treasurer John Nyboer Reporters Norma Rosst and Judy Carlson. Our colors were aqua and wh1te wtth anAqua unted Carnatton as our class flower The motto select ed was Anyone who talks by the yard and thmks by the Lnch, ought to be moved by the foot. Durtng the year Judy Carlson and Davtd Anderson as Ktng and Queen w1th Karen Stropes and Lee Engstrom servtng as flrst attendants retgned over the Homecomtng act1v1t1es brrnglng back rnemorles to all the Alumm and g1Vl.I'lg the graduattng class a wonderful expertence to remember On November 7 and 8 we presented Class Rtng as our class play wtth Mrs Frttz dtrecung. Havmg a ltttle prevtous expertence from last year the play went off w1th a btg bang, As a htghltght to the year the Junlor class entertatned us at the J untor Semor Prom on May 16 wtth Evenlng tn Parts' servtng as the theme. V1rg1n1a Hodge and Lee Engstrom were crowned Kxng and Queen tn front of a French Cafe settlng w1th Doc Hunt furntshmg the background rnustc. By the way, Juruors the prom was enjoyed by alL We have fmally reached our goal wearesentors and are about to graduate. We w1ll leave th1s school just as proud as we were when we entered maybe prouder for we have learned a lot not only from our wonderful teachers who have taught us all they knew but also from our fellow classmates and frxends As we walk down those steps that ftnalday May 27, we w1l.l be just as green to the rest of the world as we were that ftrst day IH August when we walked up those same steps But don t worry we re all looktng forward to It and we'1l soon catch on just as we dtd before.
