Class H :story ln September xn the year of our I ord N1neteen Hundred and Forty s1x there landed upon the shores of the Temple of l earmnv a goodly number of explorers and seekers after w1sdom Be1ng shaken 1n sp1r1t from thexr rough voyage upon the sea of 1nexper1ence they were quxte terr1f1ed by the trlbes already mhabltxng th1s realm We had twenty four 1n our band They were Larry Frus Bob Johnson Loyd L1lly Duane L1nn Gerald Mcllravy Jay Ramsbottom Roland Waters Rlchard Boyd Walter Long Lola Brown Phyllls Campbell Conme Fredemck Mar1lyn Hofmann Phyll1s Kxngery Ruth KTSIS Dorothy Pearson Beth Ann Purdy Mar1lyn Kay Reld Pr1sc1lla Reha Kathryn Ross 'vlary Jean Sparks Joan Wallace Judy Wallace and Narlene Woodr1ch lvlrs W1ll1ams taught us our numbers and we learned to read Durxng the m1ddle of our Journey through f1rst grade we were Jo1ned by Helen Peters and Dean Culver Wh1le sxxteen of us cont1nued our explorat1ons 1nto the second grade Beth Ann Purdy Dorothy Pearson Rxchard Boyd Duane L1nn and Dean ulver turned onto another tra1l Larry Frus Gerald Mcllravy Walter Long and Lola Brown stopped to rest and wa1t for another group We were jomned by several fellow explorers They were Patr1c1a Brown Cheryl Lovely B1lly Clayton and John Dav1s Mrs K1rl1n led us across the r1ver of readlng onto the plaxn of wr1t1ng and started us on our cl1mb up the mountaln of ar1thmet1c Along the way Bob Johnson and Roland Waters wandered to a dxfferent school Mmss Holmes our Th1rd Grade Teacher added to our burdens Fnghsh and spell 1ng ln th1s grade we lost Marllyn Hofmann and gamed Nancy Stowell Our adventurous m1nds led us on to the fourth grade where we Jo1ned Janet Capps who was wa1t1ng for us lvlarmlyn Hofmann reJo1ned us and left aga1n before the end of the year Jamce Stauffer came to travel wlth us and X4ar1lyn Reed left by another tra1l Mlss Hampton carr1ed our Journeys 1nto Flfth Grade We remember th1s year and the plays we performed for the younger chxldren Mar1lyn Hofmann was agam wmth us for twelve weeks We clxmbed up to the level of Slxth grade w1th Dale Russell and Mrs Reddxngton as our gu1des We welcomed Dave Reynolds and Larry Hartman 1nto our m1dst Larry only remalned twelve weeks and then wandered off aga1n In mov1ng 1nto seventh grade our teachers and class members remalned the same However we added much to stature 1n knowledge and now we have begun to see around us We made the lug Jump from our second floor Jumor H1gh room to seats upstazrs w1th the hxgh school In exghth grade we had as our gu1des Mr Peterson Mr S1mmons Mrs Rust Mrs Smlth Mrs Thuma and as our sponsor Mr Randall We lost Jamce Stauffer and Nancy Stowell A wh1te carnatlon was chosen as our class flower Our colors were pmk and sxlver and our motto was Chmb Though the Rocks Be Rugged . 1 f J 1 ' 1 ,l O, - , . , Q ' .
